Holy Trinity Episcopal Church is part of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America and a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Wisconsin. The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, the gathering of Anglican and Episcopal churches from around the world. Today, the Anglican Communion comprises more than 80 million members in 44 regional and national member churches in

more than 160 countries. The Episcopal church in the United States was established shortly after the American Revolution and has its roots in the Anglican Church. The Anglican Church, known as the Church of England, had a strong following in colonial America. But when the colonies won their independence, the majority of America’s Anglican clergy refused to swear allegiance to the British monarch as was required. As a result, the Episcopal Church was formed. Episcopal church services were first held in the Waupun and Oakfield areas in 1865. By the summer of 1867, regular Sunday services were being held in Waupun and the "Trinity Mission" was formally organized in November of 1867. Holy Trinity Church has been serving people in Waupun and its surrounding communities ever since. The current church building was September 11, 1871 and was completed in 1873.
