After 153 years of ministry as a faith community and a Church of Christ, St. John's has made the difficult decision to close as a worshipping community. Today is our final Sunday, on Reign of Christ Sunday, November 23, 2025. We are having a special worship service to commemorate who we have been and what we are leaving behind as our legacy.
The service is at 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 128 N Martin Luther King Ave., Waukegan, Illinois.

Just a reminder: There will not be a worship service for St. John's UCC on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Enjoy your day.

Mid-week Lenten Program
The mid-week Lenten program began this Wednesday, March 12 and will run through April 16. Each week the program will start at 5:30 pm with brief worship (in the chapel), followed by a simple meal (soup, salad, bread -- no dessert), and study. A sign up sheet for food items is posted in the hallway between the chapel and our office.

The Lenten Study this year, is called "Teach Us to Pray." In it we will explore prayer through the lens of some of the simplest things we ever learn to say: Please; Wow; Sorry; and Ouch. We will discover and discuss together how each of these words opens up a different way of thinking about prayer, and different practical approaches to praying. In the final section, we think about the kind of prayer in which we say nothing at all.

We are now comfortable in our new worship space at First United Methodist Church.
