The First Large-Scale Observance:
On May 30, 1868, General John A. Logan, leader of an organization for Northern Civil War veterans, called for a nationwide day of remembrance. He chose May 30 because it wasn't the anniversary of any particular battle and because flowers would be in full bloom across the country.

Today marks a truly incredible milestone at Ohio Monuments.

Twenty years ago today, Jeff Blair joined our team. While much of our work happens here in the shop, the final, most important step happens out in the quiet of the memorial gardens—and for two decades, Jeff has been the one ensuring every monument is placed with perfection and pride.

Setting a stone is more than just heavy lifting; it’s a craft that requires precision, respect, and a deep understanding of the sacred spaces they work in. Rain, shine, or snow, Jeff has spent 20 years making sure that every family’s tribute stands strong for generations to come.

Jeff, thank you for your strength, your expertise, and the quiet dignity you bring to your work every single day. We are so proud to have you on our team.
