We had a wonderful time celebrating all of our dads, and we continued our Campfire Stories series with the story of David. Pastor Joel reminded us that God sees our hearts and can use ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

Juneteenth is a holiday that celebrates the end of slavery in America. For too long the human dignity of enslaved African Americans was silenced while their personal freedoms were destroyed. Juneteenth stands to remind our nation that though the African American experience includes the brutal chains of slavery, emancipation did come, and it broke those physical shackles free.

For American Christians, it’s an opportunity to give thanks for our nation’s progress, while also meditating on the change still necessary for us to truly act justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with God in His Kingdom which is full of unity and diversity.

We challenge you today and every day to seek out ways you can listen to the experience of our brothers and sisters of color, and always be one to stand up and not stay silent.

Pastor Daniela continued our Campfire Stories series with a beautiful retelling of the story of Ruth. Through Ruth’s story, we’re reminded that God redeems every broken place, every loss, and everything that has been stolen. He is faithful with the dreams that haven’t yet come to pass and the hopes we still carry in our hearts.

When we surrender our lives to Jesus and bring ourselves to the altar, He can do far more than we could ever accomplish on our own. Whether you find yourself walking through grief, faithfully working in the field, or leading a home, business, or institution, may you encounter the presence of Jesus at the altar.
