After a long middle school camp week, Pastor Christine is back in town and exhausted. But here's a Saturday Evening bedtime prayer to read:

Lord of joy and fun and delight,

You fill our hearts with laughter and silliness. We have worked hard learning about Jesus this week, and we have played even harder. You have given us our food in its season and sustained us by your grace.

Thank you for giving us wonderful family and friends. Teach us how to love them more fully.

Thank you for the sunshine and rain, forests and prairies. Teach us how to respect our descendants by bequeathing them a world worth living in.

Thank you for our communities of faith, our communities of education and work, and our communities of peace-making and barrier-breaking.

Help us to center our lives around the hope that comes from your promises. Covenant with us as we seek you in every place and every season of life and every language.

And when we are tired and weary, hungry and thirsty, sun-baked and spirit-lacking, sick or in prison, lonely or surrounded by too many tasks and not enough time...

Fill us with a rest that reaches beyond our bodies and goes down all the way to our souls. For your yoke is easy and your burden is light. We trust your Spirit and pray in the name of Jesus.

Amen.

(In the comments, add what you are thankful for, or what you ask us to lift in prayer with you...)

PS- This is the final result of a big shaving cream free-for-all. Pastor was already washed up and resting by then. 😂)

Blessed Saturday Evening, Pray-ers!

Pastor Christine rode 60+ miles on her bike today for the Bridges ride, from Cedar Falls, past La Porte City, and to the Spring Creek Bridge (a little too far...oops!).

She had a wonderful time, but she is still recovering, so she will not be leading prayers tonight. Instead, enjoy her picture of cows.

Lord of all the Earth, of sunshine and trees and spandex shorts and laughter,

We thank you for all that is lovely.
We thank you for all that is difficult.
We pray for our ability to weather all the twists and turns and blind curves on this journey called life.
Deliver us from flat tires and grumpy bicyclists, who probably just need a little shade and a protein bar.

We drink from your waters of life, bubbling up from the fountain of providence on a hot day.
We eat from the abundance of delicious buttery, salty popcorn at the Gilbertville Depot.

We practice mindfulness in the quiet places, and blessed communion in the high traffic places. Be ever present with us in both.

Bless every friendly face, every child with a cool helmet, every parent towing a trailer, and every couple on tandem bikes. Bless us and lead us in paths of righteousness, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

These onions need to be eaten! Please visit our parking lot on the Mitchell Avenue side and take some onions (and some radishes in the other containers…and herbs…).

All the veggies are there for the community. Please help yourselves!
