First Baptist Church of Waterloo Illinois

First Baptist Church of Waterloo Illinois A local body of Christ followers in Waterloo Illinois seeking to share the good news and love of Jesus with our community.

When you hear the word "family," what image is conjured in your mind? Is it a Rockwellian portrait of Thanksgiving, complete with Grandma bringing in a steaming turkey? Or maybe a picture of a relaxing vacation filled with time together? For some, family means a husband and wife loving and caring for each other through good years and bad, while for many singles, family is about friends who love an

d support one another through the trials and victories of life. But for everyone, "family" creates a feeling of togetherness. Here at First Baptist Church, God is forming a family...a family of diverse individuals, young and old, rich and poor, healthy and weak...who together have bought passage on a ship that is heading into the sunrise of God's love. For us, family means mutual support...unconditional love...ready forgiveness. At First Baptist Church, being a family means we encourage one another as we seek to love God more deeply, love each other more passionately, and serve the world more faithfully each day. It means worshiping together...connecting with one another in prayer and fellowship...growing together in Christ-likeness...and reaching out together to a world that is longing to see the face of Christ in our faces. Come and look at our church family; take a moment, pause and look around and see how we interact. Do you see the love of Christ in them? Can you perceive growth in Christ-likeness in the smiles, the proud arm of a father around his child, the assured gaze of a young teen who knows that Christ is the center of her life? We are a family, committed to sailing on this ship together, carried along by the wind of God's Spirit as we seek to serve Him each day. Loving God....
Loving Each Other...
Serving the World!

God has done marvelous things!

What a day of worship, thanksgiving, and celebration at Waterloo First!

Today we celebrated God’s incredible faithfulness and provision as The Beacon is officially debt-free!!

We’re grateful for all God has done through the faithfulness and generosity of His people—and we’re excited about the new season of ministry ahead as we continue to Engage our Community, Equip the Saints, and Impact the Kingdom.

We celebrate God’s faithfulness in the past, and we look to the future with great expectation.

“Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things!” — Psalm 98:1

To God alone be the glory!

As we continue reflecting on Sunday's message from Psalm 130, remember this:

Waiting isn't wasted.

Every day of waiting is another opportunity to grow in faith, deepen your dependence on Christ, and rest in His unfailing love.

Keep looking to Him.
Keep trusting Him.
Keep hoping in His Word.

Waiting is hard. But waiting on the Lord is never wasted."I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope." — ...

Waiting is hard.

But waiting on the Lord is never wasted.

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope." — Psalm 130:5 (ESV)

May that hope sustain you this week.

It’s back-to-school day! 🎒📚

As students head back to the classroom today, would you take a minute and pray?

Pray for our students as they learn, grow, and build friendships.
Pray for our teachers as they lead and invest in their classrooms.
Pray for our administrators and staff as they serve our schools and families.

Ask God to give them wisdom, patience, strength, safety, and a great start to this new school year.

Let’s cover our schools in prayer today! 🙏
