We served 96 hot dogs last night to our community and it was so fun! What a great opportunity to gather and serve the neighborhood. So many families and kids commented how grateful they were to get dinner. We even got to play a little game of catch with some of the kids. This is holy ground. Our first "Weiner Wednesday" was a raging success. Join us all Summer long from 5 to 630 for food fellowship and fun! That rolled right into our first contemporary worship "Emmaus" which was Spirit filled and soul filling.A special thanks to all who helped make this happen, or just sat with and welcomed our neighbors. God is good!

Happy Pride!!!

"Pride" is often misunderstood.

This isn't about being boastful. It isn't about claiming to be better than anyone else. Rather, it is about affirming the dignity, worth, and belovedness of people whose humanity has too often been questioned.

For many LGBTQIA+ people, the message they have received throughout much of their lives has been that they are "less than," that they do not belong, or that there is no place for them-in society, in the church, or even in God's love. Pride is, in part, the courageous act of rejecting those messages and embracing the truth that every person is created in the image of God.

As a Reconciling in Christ congregation, our participation in Pride is not about politics. It is about how we understand the Gospel.
When we read the life and ministry of Jesus, we see a love that continually reaches beyond the boundaries others create. We see tables made larger, walls brought down, and people restored to community. Again and again, Jesus moves toward those who have been marginalized, excluded, or told they do not belong. Again and again, God's circle grows wider.

We believe the good news of Jesus Christ is for all people. We believe every person is created in the image of God and worthy of love, dignity, and belonging.
What a privilege it is to participate in that work-we GET to tell people that Jesus loves them! We GET to extend the love of Christ to those who have been told there is no place for them and to proclaim instead:

You are beloved.
You belong.
There is room for you here.

So, dear ones..be bold and tell your neighbors:
Happy Pride Month!

For all of you who are celebrating your moms (or being celebrated!) I want to wish you the happiest of days! (You deserve it!)I also wanted to hold space for those of us (myself included) for which this day has hard or complicated feelings. I lost my mom years ago and we didn't have the best relationship. There are a lot of layers of grief there. Healing too, but you know how it goes. If you feel heaviness in your chest and you don't feel like celebrating for reasons that are hard to talk about. I love you and I wish you a soft and gentle day.

“Red is believed to be the only color spirits can see, representing a calling back of the spirits of missing and murdered loved ones.” —Rev. Wanda Frenchman

Adopted by the 2025 ELCA Churchwide Assembly, the memorial "Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women" encourages "congregations, synods and the churchwide organization to observe annually MMIW Awareness Day on May 5 and to promote the wearing of red to raise awareness of MMIW."

Today is May 5, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (also referred to as "Red Dress Day"). On this day we lament the MMIW crisis and call attention to the MMIW movement alongside our Indigenous siblings — those missing and those still searching for loved ones.

To learn more about this crisis and the movement it inspired, to find a tool kit of action steps and resources, and to plug in to the ongoing work of the ELCA's Indigenous Ministry and Tribal Relations network, visit elca.org/mmiw.

As you join us in observing Red Dress Day, we invite you to share in the comments section a photo of yourself wearing red in solidarity.
