“Today is the 25th anniversary of the horrible day in 2001 when we experienced the attack on our homeland simply known as September 11th.

Today, we pray for those who lost their lives and all the people impacted by this tragedy. We also continue to pray for the people of our country and our leaders so wise decisions may be made for our protection.

We live in the most wonderful and free country in the world allowing all of us to express our thoughts without fear of death. In this, then, we
ought to express our thoughts of forgiveness and
mercy as the scriptures so fittingly explain.

Forgiveness is extremely hard, as is proclaiming
mercy. Yet, as a Christian people, we are all called to proclaim forgiveness and mercy. Difficult as this may be, it is necessary for our salvation and justification in Christ. As the Scriptures often proclaim: we cannot expect to receive what we will not freely give!”

Happy Feast Day!

Today, September 8, we joyfully celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary — the birthday of Mary, the Mother of God, and our patroness.

Mary’s birth marks the beginning of a beautiful story in God’s plan of salvation. Through her humble “yes” to God, she would become the Mother of Jesus Christ and a model of faith, trust, and loving obedience for us all.

On our Patronal Feast Day, we give thanks for Mary’s loving intercession and ask her to guide our parish family ever closer to her Son. May we follow her example by saying “yes” to God with open hearts and faithful lives.

Blessed Virgin Mary, pray for us!

💙 Happy Birthday, Blessed Mother! 💙

What a beautiful way to begin our day! This morning, our students in grades K–12 gathered together for an All-School Mass in celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary — the birthday of our Blessed Mother.

At Our Lady of the Lakes, there is something especially meaningful about coming together as one school family to honor Mary and give thanks for her faithful “yes” to God — a yes that changed the world.

May we follow her example by trusting God, serving others with love, and carrying Christ with us in all that we do.

Happy Birthday, Mary! May we always remain under your loving mantle. 🙏
