“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse.”

— Deuteronomy 11:26 (NKJV)

ALLOWING DEUTERONOMY TO SPEAK WITH CLARITY FOR A NEW SEASON

This is the shortest, most clarifying message of Deuteronomy: Moses speaks to a new generation of God’s people about two very different pathways for them to decide - the obedient path leading to God’s abundant blessings or the path of disobedience that brings God’s curse upon their lives.

Sometimes, hearing God’s Word doesn’t produce the clarity of conviction that is needed. Paul writes these words about those who take in Biblical information but are not brought under a life-changing conviction of truth: “Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:7).

In Deuteronomy, the second giving of the law, Moses gives a farewell address to a generation of Israel that needs a heart conviction on obeying God’s law and going forward to possess the land of promise. For forty years, this generation had lived in the wilderness under the fallout of God’s judgment on the adult generation that came out of Egypt.

At this point, they receive clarity: “And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.” (Deuteronomy 8:2).

Clarity is knowing what God has in mind for our life going forward and being faithfully surrendered to God’s purpose and pathway for His blessings. Deuteronomy calls us to spiritual clarity for a new season.

A word from our minister - Van Hardin

Deuteronomy: God’s Way to Transition from Waiting to Manifestation:

The first five books of the Bible, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and
Deuteronomy, provide a rich and rewarding revelation of Divine truth. Each book
offers unique instruction and insight. But never forget: these five books were written
by Moses and received by ancient Israel as a five-volume set commonly known as
the Pentateuch or the Torah. This morning, we turn our attention to Deuteronomy,
which closes out God’s covenant work that was established and brought forth
through Moses. Even in the New Testament, we can see the marvelous work God
carried out in this Old Testament period. The New Testament quotes from
Deuteronomy dozens of times. In Deuteronomy, we are reading about a major
transition. The transition of God’s covenant work in a new generation. The transition
of God’s people from the wilderness to preparation for the possession of the land of
promise. The transition from a dominant experience of learning to the full
manifestation of attaining what God has promised. Deuteronomy calls God’s people
to do what it takes, do all that it takes, to transition from a season of waiting to the
season of walking in the attainment of what the Lord God said He would do.
Deuteronomy means “the Second Law,” or the second giving of God’s law. This is
the point: learning and living out God’s laws is bottom-line essential to living in
God’s best blessings for our lives. Notice this opening line: “Moses began to explain
this law” (Deuteronomy 1:5). Deuteronomy is an urgent call to obey God! A
timeless message that we need to hear and live out today. VHH

Today we had the privilege of hosting the first fellowship lunch of our Spanish Ministry. We are truly thankful to God for everyone who attended, especially our visitors, as well as the many brothers and sisters who joined us even though they do not speak Spanish. Your love, support, and fellowship made this event very special.

Our mission is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with Spanish-speaking people while also reaching anyone who desires to know Christ more deeply, regardless of the language they speak. In Christ, we are one family.

We are also excited about the next steps of this ministry, including, Lord willing, the beginning of a new Bible study in the home of one of our visitors from today.

Please continue to pray for this ministry, that God will open doors, touch hearts, and use us to bring many people to the saving knowledge of His Word.

To God be all the glory!
