Calvary Baptist Church of Waterbury, CT

Calvary Baptist Church of Waterbury, CT Calvary is a Bible-believing, Gospel teaching, non-denominational Baptist church located on the north side of Waterbury, CT.

Experience love, hope, and purpose with us! We are here to point men and women to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then to ground them in the faith (Matthew 28:19-20). With this mission in mind, we are working hard to present a balanced ministry through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, with the aim of meeting the daily needs of individuals and families so they might live victorio

us Christian lives. Furthermore, we are endeavoring to lead the congregation in the sincere worship of our Savior; to teach them to edify one another, and to evangelistically reach out to the lost in the community and abroad, claiming Ephesians 4:11-16 as the general guideline for the function of the local church.

What does it really mean to love like Jesus? At Calvary this past Sunday, we explored 1 John 2:7-17 and discovered that love isn't just a feeling—it's a deliberate choice to serve, sacrifice, and put others first.

Jesus upgraded the command from "love your neighbor as yourself" to "love one another as I have loved you." That's radical. That's the towel-and-basin kind of love that washes feet and serves without expecting anything in return. The world watches how we treat each other, and our love for one another is the greatest evidence of our relationship with Christ.

Here's the challenge: Who in your life is difficult to love? What's competing for your affection that's keeping you from loving God and others fully? Remember, you have the power to love like Jesus because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

Ever feel like guilt is holding you back from moving forward with God? Peter did too. After denying Jesus three times, he carried overwhelming shame. But on the shores of Galilee, Jesus met him with grace, not condemnation.

Jesus reminded Peter of who he was, who he loved, and who he was following. That day, Peter left his guilt at the Sea of Tiberias and never looked back. He preached boldly, and thousands came to Christ. Your mistakes don't define you—Jesus does. “Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Stop performing out of guilt. Start serving from a place of grace. Jesus doesn't expect perfection, He wants progress. He's calling you to remember your calling, revisit your commitment, and refocus on Him. Leave your guilt at the cross today.

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. May their sacrifice never be forgotten, and may it inspire in us a renewed commitment to pray for our nation, stand courageously for truth, and honor God in all we do.
