Here is last Sunday's Sermon titled "New Glasses". Based on Romans 8:9-17, it explores the indwelling of the spirit in us, and its ramifications for our lives. Preached July 19, 2026 at the First Congregational church of Waterbury. If you're local, come see us on a Sunday! Services start at 9!

Romans 8:9-17:

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

After some travel and technical difficulties we are happy to finally be getting back on track. This sermon was preached on July 12, 2026. Titled "New England Soil" it explores the parable of the Sower in Matthew 13:1-9. We will include the scripture below.

13 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. 2 And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. 3 And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, 6 but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. 7 Other seeds fell among uthorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. 8 Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears, et him hear.”

Based on Matthew 13:1-9, 13-23 the Parable of the Sower is one of the more known Parables Jesus taught, but something lies deeper in it... literally. Explore the depth of this lesson in today's Sermon. Preached at First Congregational church, Waterbury Connecticut on July 12, 2026
