TOPIC : SATANIC MIRACLES

TEXT: REVELATION 16:13-21 (KJV)

🔑KEY VERSE:
"For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty" (Revelation 16:14).

MESSAGE:
A witch doctor in Africa once boasted: "We are having increased patronage from pastors now. Many of them who are performing miracles here and there got powers from us. Once they pay us, we will go to their churches and bury some objects that will enable them to attract worshippers and perform miracles. We sometimes give them objects that will enable them to see into the future. " Whether true or not, what is clear is that Satan also performs miracles.

The passage, like many others in the book of Revelation, describes what will happen shortly to false miracle workers. During the great tribulation - after the rapture of the saints - the angels of God will be commanded to pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon such sinners on earth. After the sixth wrath is released, unclean spirits, which are spirits of the devils, will come out of the mouth of the dragon, the beast and the false prophet.

These will gather all their accomplices to wage war against Jesus Christ. They will perform miracles to deceive people. Great events such as earthquakes, which have never been seen before, will take place, and islands and mountains will roll away. A great hail will fall upon men and women, forcing them to blaspheme God.

Unfortunately, people who will experience this great calamity are those who refuse to repent now and turn to Jesus. Instead of seeking Jesus, they are the people who are currently running from pillar to post in search of miracles, signs and wonders. Many of them will fall into the hands of Satan's disciples who are scattered all over the world today. The false prophet, the dragon and the beast may not be here now, but their forerunners are already here. Be careful where you go to, in search of miracles.

✍️THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"Only the spiritually vigilant will overcome satanic deception".

TOPIC : THE SON MADE LAMB

TEXT: JOHN 1:29-34 (KJV)

🔑KEY VERSE:
"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." (John 1:29).

MESSAGE:
Several years ago, a Jewish lady narrated how she got converted to Jesus Christ by seeing a demonstration of sacrificial love. During World War II, she fled the N**i German secret police in France and hid in the home of a French Protestant. A Christian widow came there to advise her to escape to safety while she would take her identity and face the consequences. In her response, the widow told her, "It's the least I can do; Christ has already done that and more for me." When the police came, the widow was caught and imprisoned instead of the Jewish lady. Within six months, she died in the concentration camp.

The greatest sacrificial love ever demonstrated was Christ's death on the cross for our redemption. When John the Baptist referred to Him as the "Lamb of God," he was alluding to this substitutionary death. The Jewish leaders sent delegates to John in Bethabara to ascertain his true identity. He humbly acknowledged that he was not the Christ, the expected Messiah, nor was he Elijah or "the prophet" the Jews were expecting. He pointed their attention to the Son of God, whom he introduced the next day, as "the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."

Truly, the Lord Jesus Christ took the form of man in order to fit the redemptive plan of God for mankind. It was such a redemption that was not possible without shedding of a spotless blood (Hebrews 9:12-14,22). He submitted Himself to die like a lamb for sin offering.

Christ is the Lamb of God whose blood saves and sanctifies. He takes away both the root and the fruit of sin. As the blood of the Paschal Lamb saved the Jews that applied it from the angel of death in Egypt, so will Christ's blood that was shed on the cross save those that believe in Him. The vilest of sinners who believingly looks up to Him will receive pardon from and power over sin.

✍️THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"The Son of God became Son of Man to make the sons of men sons of God".

TOPIC : POWER IN THE WORD

TEXT: MATTHEW 8:1-13 (KJV)

🔑KEY VERSE:
"The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed" (Matthew 8:8).

MESSAGE:
Often, what prevents people from receiving miracles from the Lord is failure to do the simplest thing: believe that God is able and willing to change their situation. Where this is absent, problems defy prayers and despair deepens.

The encounter between Jesus and the Roman military officer, the centurion, is very instructive. The man could have been dissuaded from Jesus on account of race, pride, power, and even possessions but none of these things mattered to him. He was focused on getting healing for his servant, who was sick at home. He was surprised at the willingness of Jesus to abandon all other engagements and go to his house. He told Jesus not to bother coming. He believed that if Jesus spoke the word of power and authority right there, his servant at home would be healed.

As a commander over 100 soldiers, he understood power and authority, and he knew that just as he could give order to his soldiers and they obey him, so Jesus can command healing on his servant, and He will be obeyed. It was a pleasant episode for Jesus, and He declared that "I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel." He warned the Jews that they risked being supplanted in the kingdom of heaven by people from the farthest parts of the earth. To the Centurion, Jesus said, "As thou hast believed, so be it done unto you." His servant was healed that very moment.

Nothing should hinder you from receiving the fulfilment of God's promises in your life. No sickness, affliction or challenge can resist the word of Jesus Christ. God has given Him a name superior to all others, at the mention of which every knee must bow in obedience, and every tongue confess His sovereignty. Believe it, and there shall be nothing impossible to you. The power of God's word will work effectually in your situations and circumstances.

✍️THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"Faith is the key that unlocks the door to the supernatural".

TOPIC : GOD'S UNSPARING JUDGMENT

TEXT: JUDGES 15:1-8 (KJV)

🔑KEY VERSE:
"And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam" (Judges 15:8).

MESSAGE:
Some people are so presumptuous. Sometimes, they think they can second-guess God and how He would exact the judgment that must necessarily come on all offenders. The result is that they minimise the judgment by understating the import of the offence. Sometimes, this is done in the vain hope that it will sway God.

God is not a man that you can twist and turn to do your will. Before now, God had allowed the Philistines to oppress and rule over the Israelites because they did not drive out all the Philistines from Canaan land. They remained that way until, in His mercy, He brought Samson to deliver them. His parents did not know that his idea to marry a Philistine woman "was of the Lord, that He sought an occasion against the Philistines."

After the marriage was contracted, Samson was separated for a while from his wife following a disagreement. When he returned, he was told his father-in-law had given his wife to another man, the so-called friend who had helped Samson arrange the marriage. This became an occasion for God to vent His judgment on the Philistines. He roused Samson, who first set their farms on fire and destroyed their agricultural output for the year. Even after the Philistines had retaliated by killing his wife and her family, Samson, in a one-man rampage, destroyed more Philistines "with a great slaughter."

God's judgment does not spare any sinner, and no one can ever determine how the judgment will come or escape its long reach. Those who think they have the upper hand may be used to punish others, but afterwards, they, too, will pay a high price for their sins and evil. The best way to avoid judgment is to turn away from sin, live righteously and follow the Lord till the end.

✍️THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"Judgment for offences against God is as certain as life and death".

TOPIC : LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER TO GOD

TEXT: MATTHEW 15:32-39 (KJV)

🔑KEY VERSE:
"And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes" (Matthew 15:34).

MESSAGE:
Quite often, we focus on our personal inadequacies, the talents and abilities we lack. We neglect our little endowments and gifts, and conclude that nothing worthwhile can come from us. As a result, we give up easily or become discouraged. We forget that God does not work by the enormity of our spiritual or physical possessions, but by His own sovereign power.

Jesus had been in a retreat with His followers. After three days of going without food, He became concerned about the wellbeing of the people. He would not send them home on empty stomach, "lest they faint in the way." He turned to His disciples to inquire about their stock of food. They promptly informed Him that it was not much; just seven loaves and few little fishes. However, Jesus was not looking for a large store of food; He has the power to multiply a few loaves into a large provision for multitudes. So, He commanded the people to sit in an orderly manner. He picked up the few loaves of bread and fishes, gave thanks to God, and handed same to His disciples to distribute among the people. Quite amazingly, everyone ate to their fill, leaving seven surplus baskets of the remnants of the food. Besides women and children, there were about four thousand men in the gathering who benefited from the miraculous multiplication of the little food.

God does not need our help to do anything for us. He only demands that we believe in His ability to do anything we may require to live fruitfully. Our faith is the key that unlocks God's supernatural works. It enables us to believe that He can do anything, and it makes us to approach the Lord with confidence and assurance that whatever the situation, God "is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think". Your little faith, like the mustard seed, can accomplish great things.

✍️THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"Little is much when God is in it".

TOPIC: SHORTCUTS THAT SOLVE NOTHING

TEXT: 1 KINGS 15:16-24 (KJV)

🔑KEY VERSE:
"Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Benhadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus...” (1 Kings 15:18).

MESSAGE :
Many people are quick to take the easy way out. They accept what appears to be the most logical advice that comes to them. They seek shortcuts to find a solution to an enduring problem. For a while, it may seem to be working. Soon enough, they realise that greater problems have been created.

Asa started well as king of Judah, for he "did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father." However, success for him came at a great price. Baasha, the king of Israel, waged war against him, seized part of his territory, and began constructing a new city there. When Asa realised he could not dislodge Baasha, he turned to the wrong source for help. He gathered all the treasures in the house of the Lord and delivered them to Benhadad, king of Syria, with the plea that he should break his alliance with Baasha. It worked because the king of Syria attacked Israeli cities, forcing the king of Israel to withdraw from Judah. The building materials he abandoned as he hurriedly withdrew from Judah were collected by Asa and used to build two new cities. From then on, however, Asa's life took a downward plunge. His rebellion soon brought a strange disease upon him. Yet, in his sickness, he refused to turn to God and, instead, kept hopping from one physician to another, all to no avail. Soon, he died from that sickness, a pitiable end for a king that began his reign by doing right in the sight of God.

We must avoid taking the easy way out. It may appear simple and straightforward, but it does not last. Worse still, it has the tendency to turn the heart from God, to make us self-conceited and to think that we can solve our own problems. Turning away from God opens the door for the devil to plant sicknesses, diseases and afflictions in us. Resist the pressure to seek a shortcut in dealing with life challenges and let your whole dependence rest on the Almighty God.

✍️THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"Be warned: shortcuts lead to long and damning problems".

TOPIC : WHAT TO REMEMBER

TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 8:11-18 (KJV)

🔑KEY VERSE:
"But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day" (Deuteronomy 8:18).

MESSAGE:
Charles Spurgeon said, "Let your memory treasure up everything about Christ which you have either felt, or known, or believed, and then let your fond affections hold Him fast for evermore." Memory is a wonderful thing to possess if fully used positively. The positive way to use memory is to turn it heavenward so that, like Spurgeon said, our fond affections would hold God tight forever.

Moses knew he was about to die and was rightly concerned about the future of the Israelites in Canaan. As observed in the text, he was giving the Israelites the ground rules on how to handle situations that might come their way in the Promised Land. He expected them to prosper in the land and wanted them to remember that God made things to turn out well for them. He did not want them to allow success to get into their head and thereby turn away from God, but to remember that He is the Source of their wealth and success.

The Bible is full of stories of people who forgot what they should have remembered. The butler forgot Joseph and King Ahasuerus forgot Mordecai. On several occasions, God had to send prophets to remind Israel of His goodness to them; "That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments" (Psalm 78:7).

As Christians, we must be in the habit of remembering the love and goodness of God. Failure to acknowledge God in times of prosperity is a mark of terrible ingratitude. Nothing must make believers forget their Source of blessings. Our disposition should always be to give honour, glory and adoration to the Lord who alone sustains and keeps us by His grace.

✍️THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"Whatever you forget in this life, remember God".

TOPIC : CALL FOR PRAYERS

TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 7:3-8 (KJV)

🔑KEY VERSE:
"And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines" (1 Samuel 7:3).

MESSAGE:
According to E.M. Bounds, "What the Church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organisations or more novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use - men of prayer, men mighty in prayer". It is the men and women of prayer that the Lord needs in every age and in every place.

Prophet Samuel gathered the Israelites together in Mizpeh because the nation was in bo***ge to sin and the Philistines. Idolatrous worship of Baal and Ashtaroth was rampant. The people heeded the call of Samuel and put away their idols to serve God. They followed this with a time of public fasting and repentance. Samuel judged them and corrected them.

The Philistines were not happy that the Israelites were sorry for their sins. They, therefore, gathered together to attack them, especially as they did not want to lose the services the Israelites rendered as slaves. On sighting the army of the Philistines, the Israelites pleaded with Samuel to pray to God for their deliverance. Samuel had called the people to prayers of repentance, but now the people called on Samuel for prayers of deliverance.

Jesus challenged the disciples always to pray and not to faint. Prayer is a vibrant weapon that the believer can wield in our walk of faith. There is always a need for prayer in our lives. It is the duty of leaders to mobilise believers to pray, especially when they are experiencing spiritual coldness and apathy. On the other hand, the congregation must turn to their leaders for prayer if they truly want a change in their spiritual and physical conditions. Believers must not murmur and complain when challenging things happen - but must see every challenge as a call to pray.

✍️THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"Prayer is the key that unlocks the blessings of God".
