REFLECTION OF THE DAY: I WANT TO KNOW YOU BETTER AND LET YOU WALK BY MY SIDE.
John 1, 45-51 “Where do you know me from?”
Nathanael, also called Bartholomew, doubts Philip’s words in this Gospel of John, saying “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” and he seems to regret his words when he meets Jesus and says to him: “Master, you are the Son of God.” He recognizes him because Jesus speaks to him about the fig tree, where he saw him for the first time.
Jesus knows us!
He knows who we are, where we come from and how much we are worth. For him there is no unknown being on earth, because we are the creation of God the Father, not a single hair on our head moves without his command.
Many times we believe that we do something secretly and that no one will see us, however, we only deceive ourselves and yes, others. But we can never cheat God, he knows us, and he knows what our weaknesses and successes are. And then, the question arises: And, do we know Jesus? If we know Jesus, we know that he is the love that fills our life, that gives us hope, that drives us to tell the truth and to act with courage for the common good and for ourselves. And if we know him well, we know that his greatest quality is forgiveness.
Jesus forgives us, he knows the temptations that control us, such as power, drugs, lying, promiscuity, lack of empathy towards others, he knows that we make terrible mistakes, that we kill, that we condemn ourselves, that we judge and whenever we approach him with a repentant heart, he is willing to forgive us to be a new person, to start over and he never punishes us.
We are the result of our decisions and we must be willing to assume responsibility for our actions. Jesus only accompanies us on the journey and is present to the extent that we allow him to be part of that path of our lives.
Today's purpose: Father, I also want to learn to know you. I ask you to give me the grace of faith so that my love for you may grow more each day.
