SOLD OUT TO JESUS

On Sunday, we explored what it means to be completely devoted to God. Much like a healthy marriage relationship begins with attraction, grows through commitment, and culminates in a lifelong covenant, our relationship with God follows a similar journey. God draws us to Himself, we receive His forgiveness and grace, and then He invites us into a deeper commitment.

There comes a point when followers of Jesus are called to surrender every area of their lives to Him. Scripture describes this powerful work as sanctification—being made holy and fully dedicated to God. Sanctification is more than simply believing in God; it is choosing to be entirely His, holding nothing back.

As followers of Christ, God calls us to be sold out to Him, allowing Him to shape our hearts, our priorities, and our lives for His purposes.

God calls us to more than a halfhearted faith. He invites us to surrender every part of our lives to Him.

In Romans 12:1, Paul urges believers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer themselves as living sacrifices—holy and pleasing to God. Being sold out to Jesus means placing our lives fully in His hands and allowing Him to use us for His purposes.

Sometimes, thankfulness can feel challenging—especially when we read passages like Ephesians 5:20, which says to “give thanks for everything,” alongside 1 Thessalonians 5:18, which says to “give thanks in all circumstances.” Being thankful in every situation is hard enough, but being thankful for everything can feel impossible.

This Sunday, we were reminded that God is not asking us to be thankful for evil, pain, or hardship itself. Instead, He invites us to let Him lift our perspective above our circumstances so we can see things through His eyes. From that perspective, we can trust that God is at work, even in the hard places, bringing good out of what we cannot yet understand.

As Romans 8:28 reminds us, God is working all things together for the good of those who love Him.
