Today I picked some flowers.
With the beginning of school brought the reminder that fall is right around the corner. This means we’re nearing the end of the beautiful blooms that see me off in the mornings and greet me each night when I get home. I decided I’d like to take a sampling of the flower bed with me to work so I can enjoy them a little bit more before they’re gone. I spent time carefully picking the blooms that looked the best, enjoying the general beauty and aroma the flowers had to offer. Everything was prepped and ready and I headed off to work. I couldn’t help but notice as I glanced at the flowers on the way to town that one of the daylilies had a rip on the petal. There was a few pieces of dried grass from when we mowed the yard that were still resting in the center of one of the Zinnia‘s. There were a couple holes from backyard bugs, and they aren’t all exactly uniform blossoms. At that moment, my chest welled up and I have to believe that this is from the Lord. This bouquet is a perfect representation of a marriage. It is so beautiful and so bright and you smile the whole time it’s coming together. But after a few miles, you notice some flaws. You notice a couple things that you hadn’t noticed or maybe glanced over while it was coming together. Today I want you to remember that what God created is beautiful. I dare say it’s perfect. If I would choose to focus on the flaws in this bouquet, it would be tossed out soon after it was arranged. Don’t nitpick your spouse. Don’t focus on minor flaws. Instead support, love, and care for your spouse. And that bouquet of your marriage will stay beautiful a very long time. ❤️
