✨ THURSDAY ENCOURAGEMENT ✨

As we sit and reflect on the Fifth Commandment this week, let’s not forget the One who placed the people we are called to honor in our lives.

The beautiful truth is that God never asks us to do something without first showing us how. He is our perfect Father - patient with us, forever faithful, and rich in mercy toward us. Spending time and abiding in Him, we're empowered to give that same love and honor toward others.

I want to personally encourage you this evening - ask God to help you see the people He has placed in your life through His eyes. To see the people around you as a life that He died to save.

A kind word, a simple act of service, pausing to pray with a friend/family member, or a moment of encouraging someone around you may be a greater testimony than you realize!

What is the joyful noise that Psalm 100:1 is referring to?

The original Hebrew word translated as "joyful noise" is rûa. It literally means to "split the ears with sound" or to shout triumphantly.

It is not polite, quiet applause, but an outward display of sheer delight and celebration - like cheering at a victory!

So... come worship with us and let's make a joyful noise this Sunday morning! 🙌

✨ TAKE IT WITH YOU TUESDAY ✨

At first glance, the 5th commandment may seem self-explanatory.. “Honor your father and your mother” - but honoring others is more than simple obedience. It's about recognizing the relationships that God has placed in our lives and responding with respect, gratitude, and humility.

For some, honoring our parents comes easily and for others, it's complicated and requires grace and healing.

Today, let’s do some reflecting on our relationships, our heart posture, and our actions:

- Who has God placed in your life that you are called to honor?
- How can we actively show respect and gratitude to someone around us - whether that comes naturally or takes extra effort?
- Are we living in a way that is honorable, so that our children can honor us easily? Or are we living in a way that complicates the relationship and causes them to have to honor us despite our actions?

Let’s strengthen our ‘honor’ muscle and be intentional this week, Church - seek the Lord, invite Him into our hearts, ask Him to mold us into a people who reflect His character, and honor those He’s called us to. 🙌

✨ SUNDAY RECAP ✨

This week we continued our deep dive into the commandments, looking specifically at the Fifth Commandment:

"Honor your father and your mother." - Exodus 20:12

We learned that honor means giving proper weight to those God has placed in our lives and really took a moment to recognize that before God established governments, institutions, or nations.. He established the family.

The home was designed to be the first place where faith is lived out, taught, and passed on.

Parents were challenged to be examples worth following - leading with truth, grace, and godly discipline.

We also came to terms with the reality that honoring doesn't always come easily… Sometimes it looks like forgiveness. Sometimes it looks like gratitude. Sometimes it means trusting God with wounds from the past and simultaneously refusing to let bitterness take hold of us.

Most importantly, we saw that this commandment ultimately points us to Jesus - the perfect Son.

He honored His Father completely, obeyed where we rebelled, and gave His life so that as broken people, we could still be in relationship with Him 🙌

There’s just something extremely special about spending time and making memories together in God’s creation! 🙌

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so much fun. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, grow closer as a church family, and enjoy the beauty of God's handiwork together.

✨ THURSDAY ENCOURAGEMENT ✨

This week as we reflect on the Fourth Commandment, we're reminded that the Sabbath isn’t just about stopping work. It’s about trusting God enough to rest.

Rest reminds us that we are not held together by our productivity, our schedules, or our striving. God is still God even when we slow down. The world keeps turning because He is sustaining it - not us.

Maybe this week has left you exhausted physically, mentally, or spiritually. Let this be your reminder that rest is not weakness. Rest is obedience. Rest is trust. Rest is making room to sit in the presence of God and remember that He is enough.

May we stop long enough to hear His voice, receive His peace, and find renewal in Him today 🙌
