First Congregational Church of Washington

First Congregational Church of Washington We welcome you no matter who you are or where you are on life's journey. We won't tell you what to believe.

We'll share what we've found and live the questions with you. We are companions, supporting one another through the peaks and valleys of life. Our roots go back to the Pilgrims and Puritans, and the birth of our country. Our founders believed in each person's direct relationship with God and in the authority of the local congregation to shape church decisions and activities. Together, we seek mean

ing in life's mystery, strength for its challenges, and grace for the journey. We take the Bible seriously, but not literally, as we seek God and endeavor to follow the teachings of Christ. We strive to:

* Worship and serve God in the presence of a welcoming spiritual community that is open to differing beliefs.

* Develop a deeper, more rewarding, personal relationship with God.

* Receive support and encouragement during times when we need spiritual nourishment or direction.

* Serve others in our community and around the world who are in need of our resources, time, talents, and compassion.
