DO YOU HONESTLY TRUST YOUR PASTOR?
Not just when they’re preaching something you agree with.
Not just when they’re celebrating you.
Not just when you have access to them.
Not just when everything at the church feels good.
Do you actually trust them?
Do you trust their leadership when you don’t understand the decision?
Do you trust their heart when they tell you “no”?
Do you trust their counsel enough to receive correction without immediately calling it control?
But here’s the other side…
Has your pastor created an environment where trust can actually grow?
Can you ask questions without being labeled rebellious?
Can you disagree without being treated as disloyal?
Can you establish boundaries without being accused of dishonor?
Can you leave an assignment—or even the church—without becoming the subject of a sermon?
Trust is not blind loyalty.
And spiritual authority should never require you to surrender discernment.
Healthy pastoral relationships should have room for honor AND accountability, submission AND wisdom, leadership AND questions.
So maybe the question isn’t simply:
“Do you trust your pastor?”
Maybe it’s also:
“Has the relationship between pastor and people been healthy enough to deserve trust?”
Because titles may command respect…
But trust is built through character, consistency, transparency, and fruit.
And THAT is a conversation the Church needs to have!

Communities don’t just need another church service. They need churches that are willing to listen, serve, feed, mentor, encourage, and become a visible expression of God’s love. When a church embraces its community, it becomes more than a place of worship—it becomes a place of hope. The church should know the needs of its neighborhoods, celebrate its victories, and stand present in its struggles. The question isn’t, “How do we get the community to embrace the church?” The question is, “How can the church better embrace the community?” Because when we love people the way Jesus did, ministry moves beyond the sanctuary and into the streets where lives are transformed.
