We invite you to begin your journey in the training program specializing in Catechist of the Catechetical-Pedagogical Institute of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU).

Applications are being accepted: from June 8 to September 11, 2026.

Admission: Based on the results of an interview and a completed secondary education. Format: Online. Language of instruction: Ukrainian.

Donation for tuition: $150 per semester.

Graduates of this program serve in various parish ministries, such as:

· Catechesis for children, youth, and adults
· Preparation of children for Confession and Holy Communion
· Preparation of engaged couples for marriage
· Leading community Scripture readings

· Organizing parish groups, societies, and clubs · Running summer Christian camps

Today, on , we remember Blessed Hieromartyr Severian Baranyk, OSBM — a devoted pastor, Basilian monk, and faithful witness to Christ’s love.

Father Severian was born on July 18, 1889, in the town of Uhniv in the Lviv region. After entering the Basilian Order in Krekhiv in 1904, he dedicated his life to prayer, the formation of youth, missionary work, and service to God’s people. In 1915, he was ordained to the priesthood in Zagreb, Croatia, and was later assigned to ministry at the Zhovkva Monastery. He was known as a wise confessor, a gifted preacher, and a man of great compassion.

In 1932, Fr. Severian was appointed hegumen of the Basilian monastery and pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Drohobych. There he worked tirelessly, preached retreats, became a great friend of young people, and took a keen interest in the sporting life of the Drohobych region. Fr. Baranyk took an active role in community life, supporting the cultural and spiritual development of his parishioners.

With the arrival of Soviet forces, Fr. Baranyk and Fr. Senkivskyy were forbidden to leave the monastery grounds, and the monks patiently awaited what was to come. Although the faithful warned them of the danger, the monks refused to flee. On June 26, 1941, following the Divine Liturgy, both priests were arrested by the NKVD in Drohobych, after which no one ever saw them alive again.

Together with other prisoners, Fr. Severian Baranyk endured brutal torture and accepted a martyr’s death, giving his life for the faith. In July 1941, after the Soviet troops retreated, his body, mutilated by torture, was seen near a pit on the prison grounds. However, neither the exact date of his death nor the location of his burial is known with certainty.

Сьогодні у згадуємо блаженного священномученика Северіяна Бараника, ЧСВВ – ревного душпастиря, монаха-василіянина та вірного свідка Христової любові.

Отець Северіян народився 18 липня 1889 року в м. Угнові на Львівщині. Після вступу до Василіянського Чину у 1904 в Крехові присвятив своє життя молитві, вихованню молоді, місійній діяльності та служінню Божому народові. У 1915 році отримав таїнство священства у Загребі (Хорватія) та згодом був призначений на служіння у Жовківському монастирі. Його знали як мудрого сповідника, доброго проповідника та людину великого серця.

У 1932 році о. Северіяна призначили ігуменом монастиря отців василіанської та парохом церкви Св. Трійці у Дрогобичі. Там отець енергійно працював, провадив реколекції, був великим приятелем молоді та цікавився спортивним життям Дрогобиччини. О. Бараник брав актичну участь у житті громади, підтримуючи культурне та духовне життя парафіян.

З приходом радянських військ о. Баранику та о. Сеньківському було заборонено виходити поза стіни монастиря, тож монахи терпеливо очікували сподіваного. Хоч вірні попереджали отців про небезпеку, монахи відмовилися втікати. 26 червня 1941 року після Божественної Літургії їх обох було заарештовано органами НКВС у Дрогобичі, після чого більше ніхто не бачив їх живими. Разом з іншими в’язнями о. Серевіян Бараник зазнав жорстоких катувань і прийняв мученицьку смерть, віддавши життя за віру. У липні 1941 року радянські війська відступили і знівечене тортурами тіло о. Северіяна бачили біля ями на території вʼязниці, проте ні дати смерті, ані місця поховання остаточно не відомо.

Join us on Saturday, June 20th, at 4 p.m. as our parish family gathers to honor fathers, celebrate our nation's upcoming 250th Independence Day anniversary, and enjoy fellowship together at our Father’s Day Potluck Picnic! 🧺
The celebration will begin with a special Moleben to the Mother of God for peace in the world and our nation. Following the service, everyone is invited to stay for a picnic featuring food, fellowship, and fun activities for all ages. Children will enjoy games and outdoor activities. 🎊Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided by the parish; everyone is asked to sign-up to bring appetizers, side dishes, desserts, and drinks (wine and beer welcome).
