Have you ever wondered why posts like this posts that challenge us to examine our faithfulness, commitment, service, giving, and unity- often receive very little response, while posts filled with gossip, confusion, controversy, and propaganda can go viral overnight?

My grandmother used to say, “The truth hurts.”

As a pastor, I understand that posting something like this may not make me popular. However, I was not called to be popular. I was called to preach, teach, and speak the truth in love. A pastor must sometimes say what people need to hear, even when it is not what they want to hear.

The truth does more than entertain us; it confronts us. It causes us to look in the mirror and consider the areas in which we may need to grow. Unfortunately, many people would rather scroll past the truth than deal with their own reality.

Propaganda often tells people what they want to hear. Truth tells us what we need to hear.

A faithful church member is not simply someone whose name appears on the membership roll. Faithfulness is demonstrated through consistent attendance, a willingness to serve, respect for spiritual leadership, cheerful giving, and a commitment to unity.

This is not being shared to condemn anyone. It is a call for all of us, including church leaders, to examine ourselves.

The truth may hurt, but when received with humility, the truth can also heal, correct, mature, and set us free.

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” Revelation 2:7

I remember the church of old…

There was a time when the director of music, praise team leader, choir members, and musicians were not hired hands—they were faithful members of the church who offered their gifts as ministry unto the Lord.

The pastor and church leaders were not only the greatest servants; they were often among the church’s largest financial contributors. They did not ask the people to sacrifice while exempting themselves. They led by example—giving their time, talent, resources, and sometimes their last to ensure that the work of the ministry continued.

This is not to suggest that those who labor in ministry should never be compensated, because Scripture teaches that “the labourer is worthy of his hire.” But somewhere along the way, we must be careful that ministry does not become merely a transaction and that service is not determined only by a paycheck.

The church of old may not have had everything we have today, but it had commitment. It had sacrifice. It had faithfulness. People served because they loved God, loved their church, and believed in the vision.

Perhaps it is time for us to recover some of that spirit—not simply returning to the past, but restoring a heart that says:

“Lord, I am available to You. How can I serve?”

Ministry should never be only about what we receive from the church, but also about what we are willing to give to help build it.

“Freely ye have received, freely give.” — Matthew 10:8

Night 1 & 2 ✨ | From the Pit to the Palace

What an incredible start to VBS! We journeyed through the life of Joseph and saw how God remained faithful through every season. From being thrown into the pit to being elevated to the palace, Joseph’s story reminds us that our circumstances don’t determine God’s promises.

No matter what pit you may find yourself in, God is able to bring purpose from the pain and lead you exactly where He has called you to be. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for the rest of the week! 💚👑
