Incorporated in 1904 as a parish of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the Eparchy of Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in the United States, Saint Sophia Cathedral was initially established by men and women of Greek descent. Today, Saint Sophia consists of approximately 1,200 adult faithful and 350 children under the age of eighteen who also reflect the wider American experience,

characterized by a great diversity of ethnic groups and religious traditions of origin. If you are a newcomer or a visitor to Saint Sophia Cathedral, you are most welcome; please know that our arms and our hearts are always open to you! And while it is our hope that this website will help you learn more about our community and the Orthodox Christian Faith, we confess, above all else, that we hope you will personally visit and pray with us. You will discover an ancient yet dynamic faith, a welcoming Orthodox Christian family, and a spiritual home in which you can deepen your relationship with Christ.

On Sunday we celebrated all our Sunday School graduates who are seniors in high school and beginning their journeys at their new universities. It was such a joy to see all our Sunday School students actively congratulating one another on the great accomplishments this year. To help our graduating college students, on behalf of the Saint Sophia congregation we arranged for care packages including a tessera from the Saint Sophia mosaics so they always have a piece of their spiritual home with them. We wish them all of God’s abundant blessings and look forward to having them visit their church family at St. Sophia when they are back home from college! We would also like to extend a special thank you to all our dedicated Sunday School teachers who have given their time and talent in enhancing our childrens’ knowledge of our precious faith. We congratulate all our Sunday School administrators, teachers, and students for a fantastic year filled with faith, family, and fellowship.
