Meeting weekly, we are the Washington, DC area branch of Tendai North America, Tendai Buddhist Institute, which is headquartered in upstate New York.

🪷Enjoy the vast blooms of Lotus flowers and celebration outdoors with us at at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens national park in DC, activities for all ages!🪷Tips: bring water to stay hydrated, pack a lunch, wear sunscreen and hat for shade, fully charge your phone or camera for snapping photos, meet Dharma friends there! Plenty of chairs to sit at the stage shows, and picnic tables are in the shade.🪷 Today Sat 19 July 2025 festival program includes guided Yoga Nidra meditation and journaling, multi Asian (Burmese, Thai, Cambodian, Chinese, Sri Lankan, Korean) cultural dance showcases, Korean samulnori, Ethiopian dance lessons, live Latin music and dancing🪷

Our Lotus and Water Lily Festival will provide the remedy to all these desires, and more! 🪷 Join us on Friday, July 18th through Sunday, July 20th from 10 am to 8 pm for a weekend of celebrating nature through cultural performances and programming. 🌺🌸

Our rangers will be present every hour of the day to lead children’s activities, guide historical tours, and answer questions. 🤩 Come with your cameras, binoculars, and water bottles ready - we cannot wait to welcome you to the parks! 🤗

Special event TODAY featuring Tendai-shu at Japan Information & Culture Center, Embassy of Japan -- a few tickets are left! ⛰

We look forward to seeing you at the Obon Festival at Ekoji Buddhist Temple (6500 Lakehaven Ln, Fairfax Station, VA 22039) this Saturday July 8th, 5pm - 9pm. Rain or shine

There will be food, folk dancing, live Hawaiian music, taiko drumming, games, vendors, and a garden candlelight service at dusk to honor those who have passed away, especially ones during the past twelve months. Memory candles can be pre-ordered and dedicated even if you can't make it to the candle service.
