Thursday Thought: As Christmas approaches, and with it celebrations of God's greatest gift to humankind, my thought turns to Dietrich Bonhoeffer's description of Christ as "the one for others." Jesus said of himself, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost." (Luke 19:10) The Savior came for others, not for Himself. The Son of God was not about Himself, His rights, His preferences, but about the need of the other. Following that divine model of looking out for the other, the one in need, I'm taking this week to encourage all to be vaccinated against disruptive and deadly COVID19 virus--and take every precaution against infecting others.

By simply getting a shot, taking a test, wearing a mask, and air-hugging from a distance, you can make this a less stressful, more joyful, and happier season by giving others a safer environment. This Christmas and New Year's, let's give the gift of health to our family, friends, neighbors, and all humanity! Mystery Solved!

For the many who've sent PMs asking what happened to our "weekly" Facebook Live forum, "Truth Telling for the Betterment of the World," well . . .

First, it was because Rob was at Oxford in a U.K. time zone and Paul was frenetically working a giant book sale . . .

Then,, well, no good reason--just a busy day crowded out the noon hour. So . . .

Proclaiming the Good News x2

Paul and Rob Schenck have been together all of their lives--literally! Identical twins, they were born to Henry and Marjorie Schenck on October 1, 1958 in Glenn Ridge, New Jersey. The two played, fought, cried and laughed together--sharing a bedroom until they left home to attend the same ministerial training college in Upstate New York. Both pursued a common call to Christian service following their conversions to Christianity in a small country Methodist church. Paul would become a pastor, while Rob became a missionary evangelist. In 2004, Paul left the Protestant ministry to enter the Roman Catholic Church and was ordained a priest in 2010. Today, Fr. Paul serves in the Diocese of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, while Rev. Rob is the president of The Dietrich Bonhoeffer Institute in Washington, DC. Both brothers regularly preach, teach, counsel, and speak at conferences, conventions, retreats, and other gatherings. Together they proclaim God’s love for all in Jesus Christ, advancing the two Great Commandments of our Lord, to Love God and Love Neighbor.
