It’s a Good Friday to come to Good Friday service.

Tonight, we reflect and worship together in honor of the ultimate sacrifice—Jesus Christ giving His life for our sins.

Join us at 7 PM at Grace Covenant Church Brookland.

Let’s gather as family and remember the love that saved us.

Will you be joining us? 👀

“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Our hearts are heavy as we lift up all those impacted by the tragic D.C. plane crash.

Heavenly Father, we ask that You comfort the grieving, strengthen the weary, and guide the hands of first responders. Surround the families and friends with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and may Your love bring healing in this time of sorrow. 🙏🏽

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

We invite you to join us in prayer tomorrow at 7:00 AM as we call on the God of comfort. ☎️ Dial 617-769-8596 to pray with us.

Hey Family! How’s day one of our week of prayer and fasting coming along?

DAY 1: Paradise

DAY 1: Paradise

“You will be with me in Paradise” Christ’s pardon of the repentant thief reveals his desire to extend eternal life to all. The penitent thief saw the depth of his sin. “We are receiving the due reward of our deeds.”

He recognized the sinlessness of the Savior. “This man has done nothing wrong.” And he confessed Jesus as Lord, showing he recognized
Jesus as the ruler of a heavenly kingdom. The result was eternal life.

Read: Luke 23:39-43

Day Three: Held Together by Him

All that was covered in day one and day two, life, career, relationships, ministry- doesn’t work if our identity is not grounded in Christ.
There are so many things that the Apostle Paul could have used to give him leverage, credit, clout or influence. He himself acknowledges the fact that as an accomplished Pharisee, he was a “Hebrew of Hebrews who studied under the preeminent teacher of the day. He was successful from the Jewish perspective.
Even after his conversion and during his time as a Christ-follower he was extraordinarily accomplished. He became an apostle, church planter, pastor, author, and leader. Yet, in all of his writings we rarely ever see him refer to himself with his accolades. Rather, he identifies as a bondservant of Christ. This language expresses a profound reality that his identity was found solely in Jesus and his service to God. Which is why he could later profess in Philippians 4:12-13, “I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ.”
That was the thing that made all the difference for Paul who was able to avoid the subtle trap of finding identity in other places.

READ:
Colossians 1:17 “And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God.”

Let’s Pray: Ask God to show us where our identity actually is and help us to root our identity in Christ. Profess who you are in Christ and thank God for being the one who is holding all things together.

Day Two: Working For Him

One of the most popular TED Talks challenges us to ask ourselves the question “What’s your ‘why’?” What is it that motivates and inspires you? What is your reason for living and for pursuing growth in your life? What’s your ‘why’? As a Christian, our purpose can be summed up in two words “unto Him”.

Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for man”. We do it, ‘unto Him’.

Parenting, getting an education, leading, advocating, being a friend, having a great meal…are all things that can be done ‘unto Him’. While everybody else is searching for something to give them purpose, once we receive Jesus, He becomes our purpose. And in so doing, he gives meaning to everything we do. He is the reason that injects everything else with purpose. The universe is filled with purpose because it was created by God. And whatever God creates, He creates with and for purpose. You were created by God… with immeasurable purpose

Colossians 1:15-17 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together”

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”

Let’s Pray: Ask God to help you see what it looks like to work with Him and for Him. Ask Him to help you to keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:25) and to not get ahead of Him. Invite the presence of God into all that He has you doing.

We’re kickstarting the GCC 42nd Anniversary 3-Day Prayer & Fasting (Sept 04 - Sept 06) with our GCC fam!

DAY 1: Belonging To Him
Often we can think God brought us to Himself through His death only because He loved us so much (and He does love us more than we could ever imagine),
however, it is because of that love that He refuses to leave us as we are. God’s love is intended also to produce something in us. God loves you and that love
causes you to “bear fruit in God”.

“Bearing fruit in God” means to let your life produce for God and not for yourself. When we belong to ourselves we produce for ourselves and from ourselves. When we belong to God, we produce for God and from God’s power. Jesus Himself chose not to produce a life that would only bless Himself, but he chose to live a life that would bless others. Now, because of Christ’s death and
resurrection, we belong to Him, that we might bear fruit in life for him.

READ:
Romans 7:4 “Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ,
so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we
may bear fruit for God.”

Let’s Pray: Ask God to forgive you for any areas of your life that are yet unchanged by Him. Thank God that you now belong to him and are not bound by the law. Invite Him into any areas of your life that He isn’t currently so that you might live a life that bears fruit for God.
