A glorious Sunday at All Souls Church! Christopher Tin's Calling all dawns!

May 31 service is not-to-be-missed! Includes choirs and 16 piece chamber orchestra!

Mark your calendars for the May 31st service (10:30 am) as the All Souls Music Program will presents the song cycle Calling All Dawns. This beautiful piece of music by Christopher Tin includes lyrics in 12 languages, all thematically unified through the themes of life, death and rebirth. The All Souls Choir, youth singers and Jubilee Singers will present this glorious work, along with a chamber orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Keith Arnold, Director of Music and Arts. The All Souls Jubilee Singers were among the first choral groups to debut an arrangement of Baba Yetu, which is the Lord's Prayer in Swahili and the first song in the cycle, popularized in the video game Civilization. Composer Christopher Tin states: "Most of the sources of the texts for Calling All Dawns come from various sacred and secular texts: the Torah, the Bhagavad Gita, the Dao De Jing, the Requiem Mass, the Rubaiyet of Omar Khayyam, Irish poetry, Polish hymns and Maori proverbs." Not to be missed! A reception will follow.

Our actions are having an impact! Alongside the massive pressure coming out of Minnesota, both local and national organizations collaborated on multiple events Wednesday and Thursday this week on Capitol Hill. The unified theme: no more funding for ICE without accountability. The Congregation Action Network (of which All Souls is a founding member), Free DC, and others collaborated on a press conference (at St. Mark's Episcopal Church) and Senate visits on Friday. On Thursday, dozens of organizations collaborated on multiple actions, starting at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation. Our UUA President Rev. Dr. Sofía Betancourt spoke (her comments are linked below), and more than 10 UU clergy participated.

Today, the Senate blocked the appropriations bill until there is more accountability for ICE and DHS!

All Souls Migrant Solidarity Team works tirelessly to support and protect our neighbors in many ways. Our Reeb Project for Voting Rights is gearing up to work on both the DC election (the primary is June 16) and the federal election in November. We continue to work in close partnership with many groups, including the Congregation Action Network, Free DC, and Washington Interfaith Network (WIN), to ensure that we're doing our part here in DC.
