Emily Allen is the incoming Secretary of the General Conference Ad Interim

The Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church, meeting this week in Jacksonville, Florida, has elected Emily Allen, a lay member of the California-Nevada Conference, to serve as Secretary of the General Conference ad interim, effective no later than July 1, 2026.

As the UMC bishops begin their meeting in Jacksonville, Florida, COB President Tracy S. Malone has issued a statement on behalf of the Council condemning political violence as it occurred at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
