Ministry has changed. Young people have changed. The work hasn’t gotten easier, but the call to accompany remains the same.

The mission hasn’t changed. What changes is whether you’re supported in it. NFCYM membership gives you resources and connection to keep building a ministry that actually forms disciples.

If your youth ministry disappeared tomorrow, would your parish even change?

It's easy for youth ministries to be separate from the rest of the parish. But when young people are actually trusted in parish life, you will see leadership, ownership, belonging, and purpose.

Young people don’t leave the Church because they don’t care. They leave when they feel like they don’t matter.

Not sure how to integrate your youth ministry with the rest of the parish? Check out the Joy of Adolescent Catechesis book for tips:https://lms-nfcym.s3.amazonaws.com/resources/Joy-of-Adolescent-Catechesis-Bilingual.pdf

Today’s Gospel, John 6:51–58, reminds us that Jesus offers more than a message to understand. He offers himself.

As ministry leaders, it is easy to focus on teaching, planning, communicating, and creating meaningful experiences. These things matter. But the ultimate goal of ministry is not simply helping people know more about Jesus. It is helping them grow in relationship with him.

This week, take a moment to reflect on the ministries, programs, and opportunities you lead. How are they helping people move beyond information and into encounter, communion, and discipleship?

Faith is not just knowing who Jesus is.

It is remaining in him.

What stood out to you in today’s Gospel, and how will you apply it in your ministry?

In 2019, while gathered in Colorado Springs, NFCYM formally consecrated the organization to the Sacred Heart of Jesus during a time of renewal and transition. Following the adoption of a renewed mission, vision, and values and the affirmation of new bylaws, the NFCYM Consecration Committee led this effort as a way to ground the organization’s future in prayer and trust in Christ.

The consecration became a meaningful moment of unity and recommitment for the youth ministry community, rooted in evangelization and catechesis in service to young people, their families, and the wider Church.

As the Church in the United States prepares for a national consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus led by the USCCB on June 11, we are reminded of NFCYM’s own journey of prayer and dedication.

We invite all NFCYM members to join in this shared moment of prayer with the wider Church.͏

This could be the gap in your youth ministry. 🔽

If your young people feel distant or disengaged, the problem might not be your content, but your approach.

Everything will change when you stop seeing a group and start seeing individual stories.

Every young person in your ministry is carrying something heavy like family situations, doubts, insecurities, or questions they haven’t spoken out loud yet.

When they feel seen, they open up. When they don’t, they stay surface-level. It's as simple as that.

They need the Truth, for sure, but they need to know how it applies to their everyday problems.

Make this shift and you’ll actually reach the young people in front of you.

Today’s Gospel, John 3:16–18, reminds us of the heart of the Gospel: God’s first move toward us is love. He sent his Son not to condemn the world, but to save it.

In ministry, it can be easy to focus on what needs to change, what needs improvement, or what is not going according to plan. But Jesus shows us that transformation begins with encounter.

This week, consider how the people you serve experience Christ through your ministry. Do they first encounter correction, expectations, and programs, or do they encounter the love of God that makes conversion possible?

When people know they are loved, they become more open to growth, trust, and discipleship.

What stood out to you in today’s Gospel, and how will you apply it in your ministry?
