Let us pray the Rosary this Friday with our Blessed Mother
1. We pray for the elderly, who represent the roots and memory of a people; may their experience and wisdom help young people to look towards the future with hope and responsibility.
2. That throughout the Asian continent, the doors of religious freedom may be opened to the messengers of the Gospel.
3. That the unemployed may receive support and find the work they need to live in dignity.
4. That everyone may have work in safe and secure conditions.
5. may Christian volunteers in mission territories witness the love of Christ to others.
6. We pray that, in social, economic and political situations of conflict, we may be courageous and passionate architects of dialogue and friendship.
7. That Europe may rediscover its Christian roots through the witness of believers.
8. may religious rights and the right to life be respected by government authorities
9. all healthcare workers, doctors and nurses, especially those who work with the poor, may they serve those less fortunate with compassion and mercy.
10. for law enforcement officers, the armed forces, and firefighters. May God protect them as they defend the community and nation from harm.
11. That sports may always be occasions of human fraternity and growth.
12. We pray that today’s families may be accompanied with love, respect and guidance.
13. may the Most Precious Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ flow within the veins of the Church and enliven the hearts of all the faithful with grace to spread the Gospel, speak the Truth, and defend Freedom and Peace

1655 + O Christ, if my soul had known, all at once, what it was going to have to suffer during its lifetime, it would have died of terror at the very sight; it would not have touched its lips to the cup of bitterness. But as it has been given to drink a drop at a time, it has emptied the cup to the very bottom. O Christ, if You Yourself did not support the soul, how much could it do of itself? We are strong, but with Your strength; we are holy, but with Your holiness. And of ourselves, what are we?-less than nothing...

St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer - 26JUN

St. Josemaría Escrivá was born in Barbastro, Spain, on January 9, 1902. He had five siblings: Carmen (1899-1957) and Santiago (1919-1994) and three younger sisters who died when they were small children. His parents, José and Dolores, gave their children a deep Christian education.

In 1915, José Escrivá's business failed and he found other work, which required the family to move to Logrono. It was as a teenager in Logrono that Josemaria for the first time sensed his vocation. Moved by the sight of footprints left in the snow by a barefoot friar, he sensed that God was asking something of him, though he did not know exactly what it was. He thought becoming a priest would help him discover and fulfill this calling from God, so he began to prepare for the priesthood, first in Logrono and later in Saragossa.

Josemaría's father died in 1924, leaving him as head of the family. After his ordination in 1925, he began his ministry in a rural parish, and subsequently continued it in Saragossa. In 1927, Fr. Josemaría's bishop gave him permission to move to Madrid to obtain his doctorate in law.

On October 2, 1928, during a spiritual retreat, Fr. Josemaría saw what it was that God was asking of him: to found Opus Dei, a way of sanctification in daily work and in the fulfillment of the Christian's ordinary duties. From then on he worked on carrying out this task, meanwhile continuing his priestly ministry, particularly to the poor and the sick. During these early years of Opus Dei, he was also studying at the University of Madrid and teaching classes in order to support his family. When the Civil War broke out in Madrid, religious persecution forced Fr. Josemaría to exercise his priestly ministry clandestinely and to move from place to place seeking refuge. Eventually, he was able to leave the Spanish capital; and, after a harrowing escape across the Pyrenees, he took up residence in Burgos. When the war concluded in 1939, he returned to Madrid and finally obtained his doctorate in law. In the years that followed he gave many retreats to laity, priests, and religious, and continued working assiduously to develop Opus Dei.

In 1946 Fr. Josemaría took up residence in Rome. During his years in Rome, he obtained a doctorate in Theology from the Lateran University and was appointed by Pope Pius XII as a consultor to two Vatican Congregations, as an honorary member of the Pontifical Academy of Theology, and as an honorary prelate.

He traveled frequently from Rome to various European countries, and to Mexico on one occasion, to spark the growth of Opus Dei in those places. In 1974 and 1975, he made two long trips to a number of countries in Latin America, where he met with large groups of people and spoke to them about their Christian vocation to holiness.

Msgr. Escrivá died in Rome on June 26, 1975. By the time of his death, Opus Dei had begun in dozens of countries and had touched countless lives. After his death thousands of people, including more than a third of the world's bishops, sent letters to Rome asking the Pope to open his cause of beatification and canonization.

Pope John Paul II beatified Msgr. Escrivá on May 17, 1992, in St. Peter's Square in Rome. The ceremony was attended by approximately 300,000 people. "With supernatural intuition," said the Pope in his homily, "Blessed Josemaría untiringly preached the universal call to holiness and apostolate."

Ten years later, on October 6, 2002, John Paul II canonized the founder of Opus Dei in St. Peter's Square before a multitude of people from more than 80 countries. In his discourse to those who attended the canonization, the Holy Father said that "St. Josemaría was chosen by the Lord to proclaim the universal call to holiness and to indicate that everyday life, its customary activities, are a path towards holiness. It could be said that he was the saint of the ordinary."

The Lord stands before us and calls us by name to seek His Kingdom. We should continuously walk in His presence and be blameless. God has revealed the way to salvation and made a new covenant through Jesus Christ. It is in our duty to obey the commandments and follow the narrow way through the Church. God shows us the path and we should seek His will in our lives in order to become fruitful. The promise of God is certain, eternal, and cannot lead us astray, and therefore we should all seek His grace. The humble heart that listens is made fertile when the word of God dwells within and leads us to enter into holy obedience and His blessings. It is His word and will that should guide us daily in our lives and not depart from our house. God does not depart from us, but has made Himself present with us by the power of the Holy Spirit, and when we seek Him in faith we find Him in the Sanctuary of the Church. Let us fear sin and obey our Father’s commandments, so that we may become fruitful and prosper all the days of our lives. Each of us is to continuously discipline ourselves so that we may stand blameless before the Lord. It should be in our desire to be made clean, and be purified by His grace and mercy. It is God’s desire that we are healed by His power, and we should have faith that He can do it. Let us approach the Lord and speak to Him from our heart, so that He can stretch out His hand and touch our innermost depths that no one else can see. Offer your gifts as the Lord prescribed through the Church and give proof that you have humbled yourself before God. The work that we do is proof of our faith and our humility. Do all things in His will and for His glory, and let my tongue be silenced if I ever forget you.
