“When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury. They rose up, drove him out of town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong. But Jesus passed through the midst of them and went away.” Luke 4:28-30
Such an interesting selection of readings today. Love himself, Love that bears all things, believes, all things, hopes all things, endures all things… almost hurled headlong off a cliff.
It’s refreshing, intimidating, and controversial for Love to rejoice over the whole truth.
Today, praise the fact that Jesus tells it to you like it is.
At first glance, his Sacred Heart isn’t the most welcoming thing to behold. It’s on fire, and it’s bleeding from a big gash in the side, and it’s wrapped in thorns. But this is the kind of love the Lord wants to invite you into. The real kind. The kind that suffers. The kind that gets rejected repeatedly because it rejoices in the truth, and the truth is uncomfortable.
The kind that endures.
The kind that never fails.
We hope you accept the invitation this semester for the Lord to speak to you in those very places that you wish no one would speak.
We’re praying for you!
