The South African Council of Churches, through its Women’s Forum, in collaboration with the University of South Africa (UNISA), will host a Women’s Month Training from 27–28 August 2026.

Under the theme, “A Celebration of Women: 70 Years of Resilience, Faith and Women’s Agency,” this significant gathering will honour the women who participated in the historic 1956 Women’s March including those whose names and contributions were not fully recorded in history.

The programme will feature Dr Sophia Theresa Williams-De Bruyn, pioneering anti-apartheid activist, trade unionist and the last surviving leader of the 1956 Women’s March.

This will be an important intergenerational space for remembrance, reflection and passing the baton to future generations.

Missionary mothers on this day, 10th May, World Lupus Day, we stand in solidarity with those living with Lupus. We want them to know that we're standing with them, always ready to offer support, love, and strength.

We stand firm in spreading awareness, provoking conversations, offering needed support on this day and beyond to all affected by this chronic illness.

No matter what, remember you are a warrior. Your fight against lupus is nothing short of heroic.
