There are some situations we simply cannot fix on our own. Some obstacles are too great, some enemies too powerful, and some paths seem impossible to cross.

But God knows how to handle every Pharaoh, every chariot, and every sea that stands in our way.

Our responsibility is to trust God, keep moving forward, and remember that what looks impossible to us is never impossible for God.

“Serving God” — Joshua 24:1–5

In his September 6 sermon, Rev. Dr. Calloway reminded us of the importance of remembering what God has already done for us.

In Joshua 24, Joshua gathers the people and recounts their history—not simply to look back, but to remind them of God’s faithfulness throughout their journey. Before asking the people to choose whom they will serve, Joshua first reminds them of the God who has guided, protected, provided for, and sustained them.

As we begin a new week, may we take time to remember the ways God has moved in our own lives. When we remember what God has done, we are reminded why we choose to serve God today.

Care and Community within Faith

In this week’s reflection, Nahema reminds us that faith calls us to look beyond ourselves and recognize the suffering of others.

Drawing on the importance of seeking refuge in God and finding strength within a community of faith, Nahema challenges us not to ignore injustice and human suffering—including the suffering taking place in Gaza. Her reflection reminds us that to be a believer is to harbor love and kindness, both spiritually and physically.

May we continue to ask ourselves what it means to truly care for one another, to stand together in community, and to put our faith into action.

We are grateful for the gifts, voices, creativity, and leadership of Plymouth’s youth—and for a church family that continues to encourage them to let their lights shine.

Our youth are not only the church of tomorrow—they are an important part of the church today.
