Dear Friends,
Elizabeth and I have exciting news to share with all of you who have supported Cross Point Retreat. Twenty years ago, we began our journey to follow God’s call to build a sacred space on Norris Lake, a place where people could pursue God in stillness and silence. Many of you have walked some part of this journey with us, and we will always be so thankful for you.
For 20 years, we have offered Cross Point for use by Christian groups but have not pursued a particular mission or ministry. Over the last couple of years, a series of life events and changes in our vocational ministries caused us to question whether God might be plotting a new path for Cross Point. After planting seeds and many prayers, we connected with Kathy Hartsook Wright who had a vision for a retreat center to minister to at-risk youth in Union County. Effective this month, Elizabeth and I have stepped away from Cross Point Ministries, Inc., and we have turned control over to Kathy and her partner in ministry, Andrew Ervin.
At present, Kathy will continue to offer Cross Point for use by Christian groups as in the past. However, she and Andrew will also use Cross Point as the base of operations for their ministry, Pearls of Grace. You can contact Kathy at [email protected] for reservations. She would also love to share with you her vision for Pearls of Grace.
Elizabeth and I consider Cross Point to be one of our greatest blessings. The last 20 years shaped our souls and our lives. My call to pastoral ministry came in the prayer labyrinth at Cross Point. So, we enter this transition with a tremendous mix of emotions. We are sad to step away, and yet, we are so excited to see what God will do through Pearls of Grace. Please pray for everyone involved.
Thanks to all of you and to many more who believed in our vision and contributed to seeing it accomplished. Thanks to everyone who has supported us in maintaining this property. Thanks to everyone who used Cross Point in your ministry to others. We can all celebrate the many, many stories of lives that were changed at Cross Point.
