Matthew 5:10
“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
KJV

The righteous have always been persecuted, and they always will be, but notice there is blessing when the persecution is "for righteousness' sake." No blessing is promised when we are persecuted for our own ignorance or lack of Christian ethics.

Blessing is promised to those who are persecuted for living RIGHT. We are not to seek persecution, nor are we to provoke it by living in a way that brings persecution upon us.

The more fully surrendered we are to the perfect will of God, the more we will be persecuted--"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (II Tim. 3:12). There is no doubt about it. The Scripture does not say there is a possibility that Christians will be persecuted. It plainly and emphatically says that those who live godly lives SHALL BE persecuted!

Thank God for the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 8:18: "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." When we suffer for righteousness' sake we rejoice because ours is the Kingdom of Heaven.

John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The plainest reason why the Son of God is called the Word, seems to be, that as our words explain our minds to others, so was the Son of God sent in order to reveal his Father's mind to the world. What the evangelist says of Christ proves that he is God. He asserts, His existence in the beginning; His coexistence with the Father. The Word was with God. All things were made by him, and not as an instrument. Without him was not any thing made that was made, from the highest angel to the meanest worm. This shows how well qualified he was for the work of our redemption and salvation. The light of reason, as well as the life of sense, is derived from him, and depends upon him. This eternal Word, this true Light shines, but the darkness comprehends it not. Let us pray without ceasing, that our eyes may be opened to behold this Light, that we may walk in it; and thus, be made wise unto salvation, by faith in Jesus Christ.
Matthew Henry

It has been said that after one is born-again the new follower of Christ should read (and re-read) the first three (3) Chapters of John's Gospel for understanding of the origin of our Saviour Jesus Christ. I happen to agree. John's Gospel begins with these five (5) verses.

Ephesians 1:2
“Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.”
KJV

So, by the sovereign will of God it was revealed that by Grace through Faith, hell-deserving sinners become sons and saints in Jesus Christ. Notice Paul says, "Grace be to you . . . and peace." The Holy Spirit is very careful in the Word of God to place every word in its right position. Paul did not say "Peace and grace," because apart from the grace of God there is no peace with God. When we become recipients of God's grace, then we have peace that passes all understanding; but apart from God's grace there is no peace . . . there can be no peace. The statement "from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ" is not just a tribute to the deity of the Son who is coequal with God the Father. The statement sets before us the exalted position of Jesus with the Father "in the heavenlies." This position is set forth and unfolded by the Holy Spirit throughout the Ephesian letter.

Therefore, all spiritual blessings come through the grace of God in Christ Jesus.

Isaiah 40:6-8
The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the Field.
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
KJV

Here God instructs Isaiah to "Cry Out!" to men, telling them how transitory they are, and how permanent His Word is. While these verses describe the transience (lasting a short time) of all men, they may refer especially to Israel's over lords.

"The word of our God shall stand for ever" has been adopted as the motto of a number of Christian schools.

William Kelly wrote that, "as the end draws nearer we do greatly need simplicity to rest upon God's Word. There may be difficulties to such as we are, and the Word seems a weak thing to confide in for eternity, but in truth it is more stable than heaven or earth."

"Has Right Become wrong"
1 John 3:5-6
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Everybody has an opinion, but not every opinion is right! Truth is absolute! It does not change in spite of conditions or situations.
Truth is not relative. This in itself, causes many to disregard or reject truth. Truth is rigid and firm; right is right and wrong is wrong. Most people don't see things as right or wrong today. many see things in their light, how it affects them or theirs, how it looks or appears to them. They see results rather than causes.

This was certainly the way many Jewish leaders looked at Jesus. He was and is truth, just not the truth they wanted. So, it is with the truth of God's Word. What is hard, restrictive, convicting or demanding is counted as wrong. That which is comfortable, easy and without restraints is right.

To many a person today, truth just doesn't matter. What they want, enjoy or choose is more important than truth. Personal feelings, relationships and desires rule their hearts, emotions and thinking. Thus, that which is true and right is rejected. Man's opinions become more important than God's eternal TRUTH! Now, that's WRONG!
