On May 24th, Andrew Beverly gave us The 30-Day Challenge: commit 30 minutes daily to prayer and study, and memorize one verse per week to actively practice spiritual transformation.

How are you doing in the challenge?

In his message, he used the analogy of replacing old shoes to explain the Christian call to abandon the old, corrupt nature and embrace a new life in Christ (Ephesians 4:17-24).

Key takeaways:

The New Walk: Believers are urged to stop living by worldly standards (ethnos) and instead live in a recognizably transformed way.
Personal Mentorship: Through the Holy Spirit and daily immersion in God's Word, believers can develop an intimate, one-on-one relationship of learning with Jesus.
Renewing the Mind: Beverly uses the illustration of a backward-steering bicycle to show that breaking old, ingrained habits requires consistent, daily practice to form new, godly mental pathways.

On May 17th, Ken examined the process of spiritual growth through the metaphor of human development.

Key highlights include:

- Unity and Foundation: Believers are one body in Christ, with serving as a non-negotiable requirement for the church (11:29-12:14).
- Growth Stages: Moving from "milk" to "solid food" represents maturing from unstable, infantile to proven, Christ-like character (17:12-20:01).
- Church Structure: God established a hierarchy of leadership—apostles and prophets for the foundation, and pastors/teachers to believers for ministry (25:27-28:56).
- Grace as Power: Ken defines not just as forgiveness, but as divine enablement—the active power that empowers Christians to live victoriously (32:00-34:34).
- Personal Testimony: Ken shares a story about with his father’s memory, illustrating how God’s grace redeems even our most broken relationships (34:34-39:37).

Last Sunday's sermon, delivered by Caleb Beverly, focused on Ephesians 4:1-12 and the importance of living a life that reflects our identity in Jesus Christ.

Key themes include:

- Identity in Christ vs. The World: Caleb highlights that while the world defines people by their occupations or achievements (0:40-1:55), believers are defined by what Jesus has already accomplished—His death, burial, and resurrection (1:22-2:05).
- Walking Worthy of Our Calling: Drawing from Ephesians 4:1, the message emphasizes that every believer is called to a unique, purposeful walk (8:43-9:46). Caleb uses the analogy of a boat to explain that just as a boat needs rowers on both sides to go straight, the body of Christ needs every diverse member to function effectively (10:55-11:40).
- The Necessity of Every Member: Relying on 1 Corinthians 12, the sermon stresses that no member of the church is insignificant (14:14-15:51). Everyone, regardless of their role or background, is indispensable to the body (13:34-14:06).
- Discerning and Pursuing the Calling: Caleb addresses how to find one's calling, emphasizing obedience to the Lord and focusing on the "Caller" rather than the task itself (18:12-20:00). He notes that God does not call the equipped; He equips those who have been called (22:08-22:15).
- Gifts for the Church: The sermon concludes by discussing the gifts Christ gave to the church—apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers—to equip God's people for His work (21:32-21:46).

In last Sunday's message from Ephesians 3:1-13, Ted Lenox explores Paul's divinely appointed stewardship to reveal the "mystery of Christ"—the inclusion of Gentiles as fellow heirs in the body of Christ (1:46 - 13:20).

Key Takeaways:
The Mystery: This divine secret, previously hidden, is that Gentiles are now full partners in the promise of the gospel (6:34 - 12:22).
God's Wisdom: Through the church, God displays His manifold wisdom even to the heavenly realms (18:41 - 20:34).
Bold Access: Believers now have confident access to God through faith in Jesus Christ (20:34 - 25:40).
Encouragement: Paul frames his imprisonment not as a tragedy, but as a source of glory for the believers (30:15 - 30:46).
