We’ve been closely tracking the news of the coronavirus (COVID-19). At this time, there have been no confirmed cases reported in Wyoming County and no restrictions recommended by local officials regarding public gatherings. New York State has issued a ban on groups gatherings of over 500. So, we don’t need to take urgent action – we are planning to have our regularly scheduled 10:30 am service this Sunday. But we do need to take sensible steps, make reasonable preparations, and plan for a changing scenario. We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust our response as necessary.
In the meantime, we are taking the following precautions and recommend you to consider the same:
DOORS
Interior doors will be left open to limit physical contact. We will be wiping down handles and other hard surfaces throughout the facility before, between, and after services. If you would like to help with this cleaning task, we would appreciate it. Please contact Pastor Jon.
GREETING
When greeting people, we invite you to do so without physical contact. We suggest a friendly wave or elbow bump, instead of shaking hands or hugging.
KIDS LIFE
Our ministry team members will check children in/our from their classrooms to avoid sharing markers. As usual, we will be cleaning all nursery toys, before and after services.
GIVING
During the services, we will not pass the offering bags. If you would like to give in person, we will have buckets available at the back of the sanctuary before and after the services. Or if you prefer to give online, you can always do that.
WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD WE TAKE?
We encourage you to take some time to understand proper prevention measures to avoid spreading the virus by reading through the CDC recommendations at www.cdc.gov. Some of those recommendations include staying home if you are sick, avoiding close contact with people who are sick, washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoiding touching your face, and covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in the trash.
We have been called to “love God, love people, love Warsaw" and we will continue to do so, regardless of the circumstances. Our love for God is demonstrated in our trust and obedience to him during times of worry. And our love for Warsaw is demonstrated by our sensitivity to one another needs and the needs of our community. This is not a time to fear; It is a time for prayer and for wisdom.
