Praise the Lord, brothers and sisters.
I don't normally make posts like this unless I believe something needs to be addressed biblically and publicly.
At Top of the World, God has called my sister Catrina and I to serve as Apostles, equipping the saints for the work of ministry. When we preach, we don't prepare messages based on personal opinions or on individual’s situations, we preach what the Holy Spirit gives us for the spiritual needs of this body and the community.
Every community contends with the influences of principalities over their region that not only helps shape culture by the building up of spiritual strongholds in the minds of the people to influence their thinking but also their behavior in an ungodly manner. As ministers of the Gospel, it is our responsibility to discern those influences specific to our area and address them inside and outside the church through the Word of God. Throughout Scripture, this is what Jesus patterned. He observed what was happening around Him and corrected it through direct teaching and parables (Luke 7:36-50; Matthew 21:28-32).
Whenever Truth is preached and the mirror of the word laid before the people, some will feel convicted by the Holy Spirit but will fall into the trap of assumption that the message is directed specifically at them. However, there is an important difference between addressing a community-wide spiritual issue and confronting an individual personally. Scripture teaches that personal offenses are handled first privately to restore a brother or sister (Matthew 18:15-17), while public teaching addresses patterns affecting the body and the culture.
Our calling as leaders at TOTWM has always been to equip believers to discover and walk in their God given gifts so they can go out in the power of the Spirit and make disciples on a solid biblical foundation. We are not focused on building churches, we are committed to building people through the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus commanded us to make disciples, and according to Ephesians 4, the fivefold ministry exists to equip the saints. God is the One who builds His Church.
Over the years, we have seen some people begin their journey with passion but later step away from their calling. They receive biblical training and spiritual tools but never put their gifts into practice. Sadly, conviction can turn into condemnation when people continually resist what God has called them to do. Rather than examining their own hearts, some choose to blame spiritual leaders and attempt to build a case against them not for reconciliation but justification to break relationships in an unbiblical manner rather than course correct.
The truth is this: We have never asked anyone to serve us, pay us, do what we say or else, we simply encourage people to obey the Lord. When you seek to please God first, faithful leaders will naturally rejoice in your obedience. When there is an issue, faithful leaders will also bring correction in a biblical manner as they will give an account for your souls. We will not dictate your life, your decisions, your obedience to God, or your service to others. We will, however, encourage spiritual maturity through biblical counsel and teaching as well as faithful discipleship.
Unfortunately, some, no matter what you do, will take the bait of satan and leave based on false accusations, even labeling faithful ministers with terms like "Jezebel" without understanding what Scripture actually teaches. Biblically, the spirit of Jezebel is characterized by seduction and manipulation, turning people away from God not toward God. It uses emotional manipulation and witchcraft behavior of intimidation, domination, and fear to control the people to get their ungodly desires met. It seeks to destroy God’s people. We live in a time where the second a person has an issue with a leader, especially a female one, the accusation of Jezebel is thrown around. The truth is Jezebel affects both men and women. Accusations like this without evidence or cause are serious as is any unfounded accusation. According to the word, accusations should not even be brought unless it is on the account of 2 or 3 witnesses according to 1 Timothy 5:19. Jezebel and other labels are serious accusations and should never be made carelessly.
The Bible reminds us to be careful when speaking against leaders whom God has established. Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses, and God Himself dealt with the matter (Numbers 12:1-15). The lesson is clear: before making accusations, examine your heart, establish the truth, and allow God's Word—not emotion or offense—to guide your response.
Our prayer is not that people would follow us, but that they would faithfully follow Christ, walk in their calling, and become mature disciples who advance the Kingdom of God.
May we all remain humble, teachable, and willing to receive both encouragement and correction from the Lord.
