Jesus did not call his disciples to sit in a pew once a week in a building. He called them to GO..... Any church, no matter the size, can carry out this command from Jesus. Maybe a church like Warrenville with older adults and no children can't do a lot of physical mission work, but anyone can paint flower pots and distribute to shut-ins, nursing homes, assisted living, anyone can maybe not construct blessing boxes, but can certainly fill them. Anyone can gather cards, write a note, and deliver those cards to nursing homes for delivery to the residents, etc. There are many ways to live out what our pastor says as a part of the benediction every Sunday: "...for worship has ended, let the service begin." Please listen to Jessica, and read the narrative of what St. Mark in Greenwood has done. And St. Mark is not the only church which has done this recently.
