May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus.

Justice is getting what we deserve. Death
Mercy is not getting what we deserve. Hell
Grace is getting what we don't deserve. Eternal life.

"I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25

What is a Holy Moment? A Holy Moment is beginning each day thanking God for another day.

A Holy Moment is when you open yourself to God. You make yourself available to him.
Matthew Kelly.

Craig Groeschel says that we judge others by their actions and we judge ourselves by our intentions.

One very important question I have asked myself in my faith walk has the answer right in the question. The question is, "Who is God?". The answer of course is "God is God". When I forget that I make trouble for myself and those I love. Just like 3500 years ago when Moses asked Him face to face "Who are you?" And his reply was just as blunt "I am". Moses forgot sometimes too!

In this world of instant gratification, recovery is a hard sell. Our situation didn't occur over night and God's love won't completely restore us over night. It is meant to be a long ( most times a lifetime) process so that we will continue to rely on Him. As Matt Maher said "It won't change your life, in five easy steps". He will however, be there on every step of the journey.

“I imagine that the first question the priest and Levite asked was: 'If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?' But by the very nature of his concern, the good Samaritan reversed the question: 'If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?’” – Martin Luther King Jr.

I saw this quote this morning on Martin Luther King day and I realized in recovery I have played all four roles in this famous parable.

A little girl wanted Mom to come into her room and comfort her late one night. The tired mother tried to assure her that Jesus was watching over her. The girl's reply was "I know Jesus is here but I need someone with skin on". The Care Ministry is people with skin on that Jesus uses to help us through whatever. It's what we are supposed to do for each other.

Heb. 10:24.
Phil. 2:13.

It seems like there's always something that holds us back from complete surrender. The rich young ruler in Luke 18 had his wealth. It doesn't have to be wealth though: it can be grief, an addiction, or many other types of pain. The only way to let go is to leave it in God's hands; as many times as it takes. And to have good people working through it with you. The Care Ministry is a good place to start.

God will restore the years the locusts have eaten . . . Joel 2:25
I had lost 2 separate careers because of separation from God but in my obedience he has restored the years I lost and I retired from both of them. How is that even possible? It's not possible without God.
