It is with a saddened heart that I address these circumstances surrounding the arrest of Tom Durham, our former choir director. The alleged incidents leading to his arrest are disturbing and an offense to the nature of Great Lakes Christian Church. Although none of the alleged incidents occurred on church property, they have inflicted great pain upon the Church and me personally as the pastor, spiritual leader and friend to the families directly impacted by this. The Church stands firmly behind the victim and will continue in prayer and consultation with the victim and her loved ones.

Unfortunately, we have had to suspend our services for at least two weeks due to the church's exposure to COVID-19 on Wednesday evening. We will also be suspending our Live Streaming for the time being until we can be assured that those who support the Live Streaming have not contacted the virus. We'll be back as soon as it is deemed safe. In the meantime, we ask everyone to pray that our church doesn't have more cases.

As part of our plan to reopen the church for services, one of the issues we are facing is the lack of disinfecting cleaning products. We presently have a limited and dwindling supply that is being used between streaming services to keep the limited areas of the church disinfected. We anticipate running out of the products we have on hand by the end of May or first week of June. We are searching daily for availability of products and we have placed orders for some products with delivery dates in late June and early July.

With that said, if anyone has EXTRA Clorox or Lysol disinfecting wipes (the ones that specifically state they will kill 99.9% of bacteria and viruses), Lysol disinfecting spray cans, medium or large disposable gloves or liquid disinfecting cleaner that they would be willing to donate to the church, that would be great. With emphasis on EXTRA, please do not short change your households.

Or, if you happen to run across any such items at a reasonable price as you are shopping, please purchase for the church and we will reimburse you.

The note on alternative offerings and tithes has been updated to reflect the addition of a locked offerings box for those who are dropping off their offerings/tithes at the church. This box is located on the coffee station counter just inside the Fellowship Hall.

In perilous times, Isaiah preached of hope and peace. Just a couple of scriptures remind us of his word.

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD forever,; for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting peace" Isaiah 26:3, 4.
