Sometimes even putting up a new basketball net can be a reminder of why the church exists!

With Warner Basketball League practices starting up, I spent a little time putting a new net on one of the goals in our church gym.

As I was putting it up, I couldn’t help but think about something Jesus said in Matthew 4:19:

“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Years ago, our church gym was built with a purpose that went beyond basketball. It was built to be a place where we could connect with and reach our community.

Just as fishermen cast their nets, we have an opportunity to open our doors and welcome families into our facility. Our prayer is that through something as simple as allowing basketball teams to practice, families will see that Warner First Baptist Church genuinely loves and cares about this community.

Will everyone who walks through those doors attend our church? Probably not. But that’s not the point. We want to love people, build relationships, and create opportunities to share the hope we have in Jesus Christ.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 9:37, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.”

Sometimes reaching our community starts with something as simple as putting a new net on a basketball goal and opening the doors.

It’s more than a gym. It’s an opportunity for ministry.

And we’re thankful for every opportunity God gives us to love and serve Warner!

🥎🦅 PROUD OF OUR WARNER LADY EAGLES! 🦅🥎

Not the ending we were hoping for, but what an incredible season for the Warner Lady Eagles Softball team!

A tough loss against Dale in the State Championship game, but finishing as CLASS 2A STATE RUNNER-UP is something to be extremely proud of!

Congratulations to these young ladies and their coaches on an outstanding season! You represented Warner well, and our community is proud of you!

🏈 Thankful for the opportunity to feed the Warner Eagles football team this evening! What a great group of young men!

A big thank you to Shayla, Deanne, and Michael for helping serve the meal!

And a special shoutout to everyone from our church who provided desserts! I asked for a little help on Sunday morning, and y’all went ALL OUT! We had plenty of desserts, and I’m grateful for everyone who pitched in!

Always thankful for opportunities to serve and encourage our Warner students!

Go Eagles! 🦅 🏈 🦅
