Good Friday and Holy Saturday are a time in our faith tradition where we remember a key part of Jesus's story where he felt pain, experienced violence, and endured humilation. The people who loved him felt such grief and fear. It is a story where betrayl, corruption, insecurities of dominant leaders, and hoarding of power cause destruction and injustice.

We know this quite well in our own time and place.

As we head into this weekend of intentionally holding space for pain, grief, and the really hard stuff of life, may this project by our community's children be a symbol of the unexpected ways that God is already making a way for new life to emerge even amidst the tombs of our life's story.

You are not alone.
You are loved.
New life is not only on it's way, but it is also already here, and moving even closer to us.

"Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility — a time dedicated to celebrating the lives, gifts and contributions of transgender people, while also recognizing their ongoing struggle for safety, dignity and justice.

In the ELCA social statement Faith, Sexism and Justice: A Call to Action, we affirm our belief that “God’s intention revealed through the Scriptures is that all people have life abundantly and flourish” (page 2). Today reminds us of our call to love, affirm and support one another — not just today, but every day as an expression of our faith."
