Does God want to have a friendship with me? Yes, many Bible verses assure us of this. John 3:16 of course says, "For God so loved the world...." This means you! We find another one in John 12: [32] And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself. [33] He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die." Jesus' death on the cross draws us to Him. It shows us He is God for He predicted how He would die and rise and that is what happened. We are drawn to Him because He is God and drawn to Him because of His love for us. We now know why He died on that cross- to pay for our sins in order to give us forgiveness and eternal life through faith in Him. His love for us draws us to HIm. It draws us into a friendship with Him as we believe in Him as our Savior. You therefore have a friend who will always be with you who loves you more than anyone else. Thank God for our best friend forever- Jesus!

If Jesus came to your town today, would you go out to see Him? That's what happened in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. People wanted to see Jesus the miracle worker and great speaker and leader. They didn't know how great He was at the time, that He was and is God's very Son, the Messiah the Old Testament promised would come to be our Savior. It would have been amazing to see Him in person. And one day we will, for we will all stand before Him one day after we die. Those who believe in Him as their Savior will then live with Him forever in heaven. While we wait for that, Jesus does come to us today to our town. He promises,
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:20) Jesus is with us as we gather in His name for church every Sunday as we accurately teach His Word from the Bible. Please join us every Sunday at 9am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wapello, 226 Washington!

How are you showing Christ love? Mary poured expensive perfume on Christ's feet. We can show Him our love by communicating with Him every day. He speaks to us through His Word. We speak to Him in prayer. Start reading through the New Testament, some every day and you will be blessed! We also show our love to God as we attend church where the Bible is accurately taught. He promises to be present with us in a special way as we do! "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:20) We also show God love by giving Him our thanks and praise and offerings. Jesus' sums it up in John 14:15: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments." Do you love God? Express that love in response to His amazing love for you!

How will you think about Memorial Day? Hopefully we will all consider the great blessing we have of living in our country and thank God for those who have and do give us our freedom by defending our country in the military. Remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for us and pray for their loved ones. Pray also for our Nation. Psalm 144:15 says, "Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!" Pray that our Nation will repent of our sins and let God be the Lord of our lives. Our Nation is blessed because so many in our Nation have followed Christ. May we all follow Him in the future. Please pray: "Dear Jesus, we thank you for our Nation and for those who have and do defend it. Bless those whose loved ones died to give us our freedom. Bless our military. Bring our Nation to repentance and faith in You! Amen.

Thanks, Mom! On May 10th we remember Mothers who do so much for us. Thank you Mothers for all you do for your children! You give them life, care, and love! May God bless you all! Being a mother is not easy, but it is so important. Proverbs 31:30 says, "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised."
So today we also thank God for you Mothers who passed on your faith to your children. You make a difference not only in this life, but also in eternity! And if you did not pass the Christian faith on to your children, it is not too late. Begin by your prayers for your children. Happy Mother's Day! And to the rest of us: Let a mother know she is appreciated! And you are dear Mothers! Even if others may not seem to appreciate you, God sees all the love you have shown, and smiles!
