🎓Happy Graduation Sunday!🎓

We had a wonderful time celebrating these 5 Dare County Seniors at church this morning! We are so proud of these exceptional individuals, and so grateful they shared their plans with us this morning!

Seniors, please remember that your church family loves you and is always here for you. No matter the paths you choose or the choices you make, you will always have a home at Bethany.❤️

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” - Jeremiah 29: 11-13✝️

We hope you’re as excited as Preacher David is about youth group tonight!😁

Both groups will be together for our last weekly meeting before Summer Break! After that, we’ll be having fun events throughout the Summer to stay connected with each other. 🌞🌊

Tonight, we are making rain chains with Mrs. Carol Saunders, eating dinner, playing games, and learning about the Lord! We can’t wait to see you!❤️

The first Memorial Days were held after the Civil War. In 1868, roughly 5000 people gathered at Arlington National Cemetery to decorate the graves of both Union and Confederate troops. In the years that followed, various states, cities, and communities observed Memorial Day, with some even declaring it a legal holiday.

Fast forward about 50 years and an even bigger, more global war had swept through: “The Great War.” “The war to end all wars” had shown us just how vicious humanity could be. The holiday shifted focus to honor those who had lost their lives in all American conflicts.

It wasn’t until 1971, while the American military was shifting their strategies in Vietnam, that Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. This established that Memorial Day was to be observed annually on the last Monday of May.

Since Vietnam, American troops have continued to show up and keep fighting, regardless of the theater of war. Unfortunately, that means thousands more irreplaceable, unique, individual lives lost.

Today, we want to thank all of the fallen heroes that have lost their lives in service to our country. We pray for their families, their friends, and the veterans and current service members who know what it means to lose one of their own. We are incredibly grateful for your sacrifices.

🇺🇸May God Bless America and her Heroes. 🇺🇸
