The pastor told a story about a little girl that attended church through the youth group. Her parents would not attend because they were poor and they were embarrassed. Upon many times attending the church service she noticed that the tithing plate was passed around, and she had nothing to put in it. She began to cry and was embarrassed because she had nothing to give monetarily. When the pastor asked her why she was crying she said I see so many giving and I have nothing. The pastor assured her that God understood. Upon reflecting on it, the little girl said I do have something to give. She took the offering plate from the usher, laid it on the floor and stood in the tithing plate. She looked the Pastor in the eye and said I do not have any money to give, but I give myself to God. And in that moment, the whole church learned a lesson. God doesn’t care about your money. He already owns all of that anyway you’re just a caretaker. What he cares about is your soul. But if you have the right relationship with him you’ll understand the instructions of the Bible, which is to give a 10th of what you earn. And you’ll do it with a willing heart. Otherwise, the Bible says if you give with a begrudging heart, you should keep your money. Because you’re not given for the right reasons anyway.
