"Even though thankfulness is our God-designed 'resonate frequency', thankfulness is also a decision. We must choose to be grateful. As we gather as a family, we must collectively choose gratitude--gratefulness to God. And when we make this choice to be thankful, we will realize that there are an endless number of reasons to be thankful to our God who not only created us, not only cares for us but sent His Son to the cross for us. Our gratefulness starts at the cross and flows into the rest of our lives, seeing everything through the lens of what Jesus did on the cross." - Pastor Austin

***NEW SERMON SERIES STARTS SUNDAY***

One of the first disciplines soldiers learn when training for battle is to stand at attention. This is due in part to the fact that holding one’s ground in a chaotic environment is difficult. The same can be said for Christians who are called to stand firm amid a chaotic world.

At the end of Peter’s letter, he explains his purpose for writing, “I have written briefly to you, exhorting and declaring that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it.” (1 Peter 5:12, ESV) As we sojourn through a world that is in opposition to the Christian faith and followers of Jesus, we are commanded to stand firm.

What does standing firm look like for the Christ follower? Repeatedly Peter will surprise us as he challenges us to stand firm by…
• Enduring suffering instead of avoiding it
• Putting our hope in what is unseen rather than what is seen
• Humbly showing honor to those who persecute us
• Living holy lifestyles despite being mocked for our purity
• Loving one another as brothers and sisters in Christ

So, let’s learn to stand firm in the true grace of God as we inquire more deeply what God’s Word has for us in 1 Peter.

Jesus is the central figure of the Christian faith. If we misunderstand who He is and what He has accomplished, we will inevitably misunderstand the Christian faith altogether.

Some of the questions we'll address include:
+ How can Jesus be truly God and truly human?
+ What is the significance of Jesus being our representative and substitute?
+ What role did church history have in defining the personhood of Jesus?
+ What is the significance of and evidence for the resurrection of Jesus?
+ Where is Jesus and what is Jesus doing right now?

All are welcome to join us as we launch a new workshop series this Sunday, July 14 at 11:30am in the worship center. Kids Club will be available for children and students ages 2 years through 8th Grade.

Have you prayerfully considered taking this step of obedience in your relationship with Jesus? Baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision to follow Jesus. It is a public proclamation of His restorative work in your life!

The next opportunity for baptism is Sunday, June 9. If you desire to take this next step, or simply want to learn more about baptism, please reach out to a pastor or the church office today!

ROMANS 6:4 // We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Have you picked up "The Disciplemaker's Prayer" card from the Welcome Center yet? We encourage you to keep this card in a place where you see it daily...pray it daily. This prayer tool is meant to position our hearts to love God, love people, and make disciples.

Thank you, Cadre Missionaries, for making this prayer available.
