With sadness, Ithis message from Marnie Parker: “I have been in the hospital three times and am now here for a fourth time to die. I want to thank all my Word with Friends and Facebook friends and those who sent me money when I was in Richmond.”

Marnie asks that we keep looking out for the planet and fight climate change. Cards can be sent to the church.

Today is the beginning of Black History Month in the United States, a time to intentionally honor and recognize the Black history that often is pushed out of popular media and textbooks. Every Friday in February, we will be showcasing Black climate justice advocates and sharing resources to learn more.

Every month, but especially this month, it is important to remember that climate justice IS racial justice. Most of the emissions and practices that are contributing to climate change (1) stem from colonialism and (2) impact communities of color the most. UCLA Law human rights scholar E. Tendayi Achiume discusses 8 lessons to be learned about this intersection of justice for the Earth and people of the global majority in this article: https://law.ucla.edu/news/climate-justice-requires-racial-justice
