Greg Gifford opened Sunday with a simple question: What do you actually value? Not what you know you should value, but what you gladly sacrifice for?

His answer from Ephesians 3 cuts through a lot of noise. God could have chosen to work through buildings, processes, or wealth. He chose to work through relationships. Specifically, through the local church.

Ephesians 3:10 says it plainly: through the church, the manifold wisdom of God is made known. The church is not incidental to God's redemptive plan. It is central to it.

And yet many of us are practically living like possessions, accomplishments, and experiences are what matter most.

The diagnostic is worth sitting with: Do you orient your life around the church the way God has made the church the center point of redemptive history? Sunday mornings are NOT enough. Press in.

Godly relationships in the local church are not a nice addition to a full life. They are the thing.

The heavens have been declaring the glory of God since day one.

This past Sunday, Jordan Scott opened Psalm 19, a psalm where David moves from the sky proclaiming God's glory, to the perfection of God's Word, to landing on his knees asking God to hold him back from sins he doesn't even know he's committing yet.

The psalm doesn't just inform. It humbles.

Jordan's challenge for the summer was simple: more of God's revelation should drive more of your prayer. And the inverse is just as true. Neglect the Word, and you won't grow closer to God. You'll just drift.

How are you planning to grow this summer?

Pastor Kent preached from Isaiah 49 this Sunday, the start of a new section in the book. Where chapters 40-48 held a stethoscope to Israel's heart, chapter 49 picks up a megaphone. The servant of the Lord speaks to the coastlands, to the farthest peoples from Jerusalem, and calls them to listen. Pastor Kent made the case that this servant is Christ, the one in whom God shines, and that his word travels like a sword and an arrow. It gets close. It always hits its mark.

We also got to witness two baptisms this weekend. Two people standing up in front of the church to declare what God has done in their lives.

And if you've been hearing about the Martinez church plant, now is the time to learn more. There's an interest group meeting this Sunday, May 31, from 12:30 to 2pm in room WC 118. Tyler Dresdow will share the vision and talk through how you can get involved over the next year. You can register on Church Center, link in bio.

Yesterday was a great day. Our Great Family Gathering brought the whole church together for lunch, lawn games, a climbing wall, a dunk tank, putt-putt, and a lot of unhurried time with people you love.

Before all of that, Pastor Kent preached from Isaiah 48 - a dense chapter at the close of a major section of Isaiah. His one-line summary: for all the things coming at you in the future, only God’s Word can regulate your heart, and only God’s servant can restore it.

Great food. Great people. Great Word. That’s a Sunday.

Sunday was a full morning at NorthCreek.

We celebrated families who brought their children forward for Family Dedication — a beautiful picture of parents entrusting their kids to God and committing to raise them in his Word.

Then Pastor Kent took us to Isaiah 47 — God's word against Babylon.

Babylon was powerful, wealthy, and completely self-assured. "I am, and there is no one besides me," she said. Untouchable.

God said otherwise.

The spirit of Babylon isn't ancient history. Pride. Self-sufficiency. The quiet assumption that you don't really need God. Pastor Kent's point: that spirit is very much alive — and God opposes it.

His challenge to the church: stop living like Babylon. Start getting ready like the bride.

Sunday, Zack Harris, our Director of Student Ministries, brought us to Psalm 63 — written by David while he was a fugitive in the wilderness, fleeing his enemies.

In a place with no water, surrounded by threats, David's focus wasn't survival. It was God.

"My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me." — Psalm 63:8 (ESV)

Zack's challenge: your soul is always clinging to something. The question is whether it's clinging to the one who actually holds you.

Sunday, Pastor Kent preached from Isaiah 46 — a chapter about what you carry and who carries you.

Babylon's gods had to be loaded onto animals and hauled into exile. They couldn't answer. They couldn't save. They only added weight.

“Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.” — Isaiah 46:4 (ESV)

Pastor Kent's challenge: name your idols. Beauty, health, money, power, influence — these things promise relief but only add to the burden. They will fail you. God will not.

We also got to celebrate two baptisms on Sunday — a great reminder of what it looks like when God carries someone all the way to salvation.

Thomas wasn't in the room the first time Jesus appeared to the disciples. When they told him, he didn't believe. He wanted proof.

Eight days later, Jesus showed up again — and addressed Thomas' doubt point by point.

Thomas' response: "My Lord and my God." The greatest confession in the Gospel of John.

This Easter, we looked at John 20:24–31. The same Jesus who met Thomas in his doubt is the one John wants you to believe in — so that you may have life in his name.

False witnesses. A rigged trial. A judge who became the prosecutor.

This is what the last night of Jesus' life looked like.

On Good Friday, we walked through Matthew 26:57–67—the trial before Caiaphas. The Sanhedrin struggled to find witnesses who agreed, eventually settling on two who twisted Jesus' own words to make them sound like a capital offense.

When Caiaphas finally put him under oath—"Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God"—Jesus answered. He spoke the truth that signed his own death warrant. He wasn't a victim of a corrupt system; he was the Master in total control, sending himself to the cross for us.

The hour of darkness was exactly that. And it wasn't the end.
