WORD FOR THE DAY - https://bit.ly/wordfortheday

08/03/2022

God, I get overwhelmed in seeking your peace. What impact can I make on such huge problems? Help me focus on the many little things that I can do to work towards peace, recognizing that these all contribute to a more just and peaceful world. Amen.

You hold precious lives in your hands. Be gentle and gracious with one another. A community is no stronger than the weakest within it. Even as the One you follow reached out to those who were rejected and marginalized, so must the community that bears his name. —Doctrine and Covenants 162:6c

"Not in Our Community!"
Community response to Anti-Semitic flyers in Danville, next Saturday, Feb. 26th at noon, 205 Railroad Ave., Danville at the Farmers Market. Look for a banner that says "Hate Against Any is Hate Against All”!

NOT IN OUR COMMUNITY!
Recently, flyers were distributed in our Tri-Valley are disparaging Jewish people and blaming them for the Covid pandemic.

We invite you to join our rejection of such hate in our community, where we raise our children.

Let’s not let this happen again. Speak out against all forms of hatred. Call on our city and county leaders to endorse our Proclamation (see other side) and create their own Proclamations. Post this Proclamation in visible places.

Proclamation
Whereas, the people of the San Ramon Valley support one another when we are hurting, and today is no exception; and

Whereas, many of us cannot begin to understand the depths of

anguish and pain caused by the inexcusable accusations made against people of the Jewish faith in flyers passed around our community; and

Whereas, the anguish, suffering, and pain caused by any form of hate are

reverberating throughout our country; and

Whereas, we, Interfaith of San Ramon Valley (I-SRV), as members of diverse faith communities, condemn any and all forms of hatred in our community; and

Whereas, we stand with all members of the entire San Ramon Valley community and with people from all faith practices, all cultures and all ethnicities; and

Whereas, at this moment in time, we especially stand in solidarity with members of our Jewish community who have been the target of recent flyers;

Now, Therefore, the Interfaith of San Ramon Valley, California, does hereby proclaim its solidarity with those who reject hate and embrace love, peace and acceptance.

Dated this 26th day of February, 2026.

“The People Walk” - Community of Christ online Advent Service - a worldwide, international celebration!

https://www.youtube.com/user/CofChrist
or
https://www.facebook.com/CofChrist

This is a communal opportunity for examination, reflection, and challenge as we consider the Advent journeys of Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, the Magi, and all of creation…and our call as we walk our own Advent journey.

The global diversity of Community of Christ can be seen in reflections on "Hope" from Rashmirekha Mallick of India, "Love" from Humberto Rosario of the Dominican Republic, "Joy" from Nicolas Lethanh of New Caledonia, and "Peace" from Apostle Barbara Carter of the USA.

The First Presidency will open and close the service, and President Steve Veazey will offer an Advent prayer. A worldwide choir will celebrate the season in song, and Community of Christ Organist-in-residence, Jan Kraybill, will play the prelude and postlude and unite us in singing our faith.

Food for thought on this third Sunday of Advent.
