There is a war most people never see.

A battle beneath the surface.
A kingdom behind the kingdom.
A darkness working through fear, confusion, temptation, division, distraction, and deception.

In Ephesians 6:12, Paul pulls back the curtain:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood…”

But before Paul ever talks about warfare, armor, or the devil… he spends five chapters establishing something even more important:

The throne is already occupied.

Jesus is already enthroned far above every ruler, authority, power, and dominion. The victory is not uncertain. The King is not nervous. The war has already been won through Christ.

That changes how believers fight.

You are not fighting for victory.
You are standing from it.

In Week 1 of Occupied Territory, we walk through the entire structure of Ephesians and uncover Paul’s intentional progression:

Chapter 1 - Victory
Chapter 2 - Identity
Chapters 3–4 - Formation
Chapter 5 - Covenant & Holiness
Chapter 6 - Warfare & Standing Firm

This message explores:
⚔️ The unseen spiritual battle behind everyday life
⚔️ Why fear-based Christianity will exhaust you
⚔️ The meaning of “the heavenly places” in Ephesians
⚔️ Why your enemy is not flesh and blood
⚔️ How believers stand in occupied territory with confidence and authority in Christ

The battle is real.
But so is the throne.

You are not finished yet.

Sunday at West End, we closed out the Nevertheless series with a message called “You Will Get Better” from 1 Thessalonians 5:23–24.

So many of us live discouraged because we feel unfinished. We fight the same struggles, face the same fears, and wonder if we are really changing at all.

But the gospel reminds us of something powerful:

🔥 The fact that God is still working on you is not proof He has abandoned you. It is proof He has not given up on you.

Your hope is not in your ability to perfect yourself.
Your hope is in the faithfulness of God to finish what He started.

“He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.”

We also had the joy of celebrating our graduates and praying over the next season of their lives. What a special Sunday together.

Watch and share this message with someone who needs hope today.

In Week 10 of the Nevertheless series, Pastor Chris Sykes closes the journey with a message of hope from 1 Thessalonians 5:23–24: “He who calls you is faithf...

The Apostle Paul wrote "I am not ashamed of the gospel" — which means at some point, he had to make that choice.

What made him so sure? That's what we're getting into on Wednesday nights at 6:30. JOIN US TONIGHT at West End Church as we start our study of Romans!

This book has a track record. Come find out what I mean.

Life lately 🙌

Just a little glimpse of what the past couple weeks have looked like… lots of smiles, time together, and God moving in the middle of it all.

So thankful for this church family and the memories we’re making along the way. 🤍

When you're at your lowest point, remember this: Jeremiah 29:11 wasn't written for people who had it all together—it was written for those who were struggling and suffering. God's promise of a great future is specifically for you when you're at your worst. Failure is never final when God is writing your story! 🙏✨

You have a great future because God has an answer to failure and a plan for your good.

In Week 5 of the Nevertheless series, we explore the tension between failure and faith, regret and redemption, and the powerful truth that God is not finished with you yet.

This message confronts the weight of past mistakes, the lies that try to define your identity, and the fear that your best days are behind you. But through Scripture, we see a different story—one where God steps into brokenness and declares a future filled with purpose, restoration, and hope.

If you have ever felt disqualified, stuck, or unsure about what comes next, this message is for you.

Because of Jesus, your story is not over.
Because of His grace, your future is still unfolding.
And because of His promises… nevertheless, there is more ahead.
