Hebrews 13:7 “Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”
Yesterday we celebrated “Pastor Appreciation Day” during service. I snapped this photo from the nursery as I fed my little one (the tenth grandbaby of the couple pictured). We are so grateful for the acceptance of the call Pastor Steve and Margie took when they stepped into Mid Hudson Christian Church. A church with big shoes to fill, founded by our overseer and great friend, Pastor Don Richter.
The call of entering into ministry, is in my opinion, the highest honor one can take. It is edifying, yet costly. I have watched the highs of my dad celebrating with others, and also observed him balance how to empathize members hardships, while directing them to Jesus in it all. It sometimes looks like ministering a funeral one day, and marrying a couple at a wedding the next. It is a constant state of “Jesus use me to lead them to you”. It is a 24/7 role, like answering that 3AM phone call for intercessory prayer, or restructuring your day to travel and pray over someone sick in the hospital. It is a constant laying down of yourself.
We honor the Godly Pastors all around the world who have accepted a position as this, who lead their flock intentionally with integrity. We are grateful to have one of those pastors at MHCC and honor Pastor Steve for the call he took 14 years ago. We appreciate all you do for us.
